What kind of skillets do y’all use?Posted by UFownstSECsince1950
on 2/19/21 at 8:58 am

Looking to get the woman a new sauté pan + large fry pan. We have always had cheaper Amazon and bed bath beyond type skillets which have always worked just fine. Wanted to get her a nicer set coming up, and figured plenty on here would have good suggestions.
We have several cast iron skillets as well as a few all-clad stainless. Was looking for possibly a non-stick ceramic type combo

ETA: Disregard everything I said, because I missed your final sentence saying you already have these and are looking for nonstick. For that, I still like my AllClad nonstick pans, and I use a 12" and an 8". I do think that french/essential/weeknight type skillet I mentioned last would be great for nonstick. That's actually what I plan to buy when I catch that sale next time as long as it's available.
All Clad is great, but you do pay for it. I have been buying mine from HERE over the years. It's where AC puts their "factory seconds" sale (FS is any items that have any imperfections that they can't sell at retail, so they sell them at 50-60% off), and it happens every so often.
Unfortunately their most recent sale ended yesterday. Sign up for their email alerts to catch the next one. Definitely worth it.
As for buying 2 go to skillets, I use the following the most:
D5 10" fry pan
D5 Stainless 3qt saute pan
Also check out their "French Skillet," "Essential Pan," and "Weeknight Pan." These are a mix between a fry pan and a pot, and they are good for multi purpose cooking. My neighbor has one and uses his plenty. I plan to get one soon (they were sold out on this last sale by the time I got to it). I think I would use this more than my saute pan I linked above.

NON stick
I bought one of those $20 Copper looking non stick pans and it's working out pretty well. When it wears out in a year or 2, I'll buy another one.

I have the 3 pan, 1 lid set from All Clad.
HA1 model.
Really like the heat distribution and sturdiness of them.

Thanks for the input everyone, much appreciated. Anyone familiar with the Caraway cookware brand? They have ceramic options and I think it’s something the woman would like. Did a search on here, but nothing came up.

+1 for All-Clad non-stick.
I don't cook on non-stick much aside from fish, but I've had my NS all-clad 12 inch skillet for almost ten years now and still no signs of wear of the coating.

Staub
I use All Clad HA1 for my non stick options, and I use this Staub pan/braiser a lot.
I have a bunch of all clad stainless I use often in addition to an all clad "everyday" 4 qt and 6qt pans that I love.

I bought an enamel coated braiser from Le Creuset that I use for almost everything. I have the skillet from Le Creuset as well but the braiser is my daily.

I use my All Clad copper core for most things but if I want a nonstick I have really liked the Hexclad. Nice to not have to worry about scratching it.

No I don't think so. When they are on sale you will see them. The important part is making sure you are signed up for their email list so you get the alert when the next sale is happening.
