I wanted to cook turkey gumbo but everyone’s requested Mexican.
Tacos with grilled chicken or Sinaloan chilorio (made with beef instead of pork) as meat options. Salsa verde, salsa roja, and pico de gallo.
Pati Jinich’s jicama salad with oranges, beets, and candied pecans
Black beans and Mexican red rice
Guacamole and chips
Might do homemade tortillas but not sure yet. I hate making them especially for a big group.

My with family tonight, party foods and a ham with rolls for mini sandwiches.
Tomorrow depends on where I end up. With my SO’s family, dinner out in New Orleans. If we can’t make it there, I think my family is doing party foods and crab bisque or gumbo and lasagna.

I would love to have seafood gumbo, but I'd need a different family, so it will be brisket, ham, scalloped potatoes, rice dressing and still looking for other sides to go with.

Gumbo d'seafood.....we used to eat Gumbo on christmas eve but now we don't get together as a family until christmas day. Then I think my brother will get a Franklin's brisket.

Pork tenderloin this year and the rest of the usual gang for sides and dessert.
Posted on 12/23/19 at 12:36 pm to BoomPepper
Grilling a whole beef filet loin stuffed with mushrooms, shallots and pancetta. Side of potatoes au gratin and roasting a whole cauliflower with goat cheese.

Spiral sliced ham as requested by my wife. I'll also fix some dirty rice to go with it and grill some fresh vegetables.
We don't have a big deal on Christmas as Thanksgiving is my big party of the year and it will just be the wife, me and her 2 grown kids for dinner.

We have an open house for family and friends on Christmas Eve with a lot of party food of tenderloin, smoked turkey, meat pies, boiled shrimp, a crawfish dip, a cranberry gorgonzola torte and a lot of other things I don't recall.
Breakfast Christmas morning before opening gifts which is usually french toast casserole, grits, scrambled eggs, breakfast burritos, bacon, various sausages, pan fried ham, hash brown casserole, biscuits, mayhaw jelly, Sam's orange juice and things I don't remember. Nothing particularly out of the ordinary. There are 25 of us, so it's pretty much a buffet and serve yourself as you arrive.
Christmas night we wind down with party leftovers (if any) and chicken and sausage gumbo.
