Friend,

To celebrate the closing of snoball season this weekend, I went to the TulaneLSU Top 10 snoball award winning Pontilly Sno. They are famous for hot dogs, but I do not like hot dogs. Instead, I got a fruit flavored snoball and cheese nachos. They were perfect. Talking to the snoball scraper I learned that they use a Southern Snow shaved ice machine. Their blades must have been sharpened this morning because that ice had the smallest molecular weight that I have had in a very long time.

If you've never been, I highly recommend it. It is across the street from the Baptist Seminary on Gentilly Road. It embodies everything a snoball stand should be. Though Pontilly Sno is open all year, my snoball season ends on Front Day, which looks to be this coming Saturday.

Yours,
TulaneLSU

Well frying wings with one friend has somehow turned into 4 friends and a child coming so had to go to the store. Wings, chips and dip, sausage.

Not really in the mood to go out further than that.

Friend,

At what point can we call it an egg roll if it neither contains egg nor is it rolled? Or is there egg in it? If there is an egg in it, would we rather call it egg unrolled?

Yours,
TulaneLSU

Italian - not sure what it's called. Sliced sirloin thin and then pounded thinner. Stuff/rolled with a mixture of diced onion, garlic, chopped arugula, shredded cheese. Seared in pan, removed and then built a sauce that ended similar to Pinetta's (dark, not too thick and herbal). Cooked sauce in oven to a hour, added back the steak rolls, 30 minutes later added diced eggplant. Cooked another 30 minutes and served over spaghetti with a side of green beans and focaccia.

Homemade calzones here tonight. Made four, two meatball and two pepperoni. The biggest difference in them was two were plain pizza crust, one was basil and garlic and one made with fresh minced jalapeno pepper in the doughs.

First two going into the oven. One of the plain dough with meatball and ricotta, mozzarella, provolone and shredded Parmesan cheeses. The other a basil and garlic crust with pepperoni, mozzarella, ricotta, provolone and Parmesan cheeses.

Right out of the oven.

A pepperoni with jalapeno pepper dough/crust.

Time to eat!

These came out pretty darn good!

This week's forecast made me cook lentil soup while listening to Christmas music. Not sorry.

Brown lentils, buttered naan, chutney. It was the last of my frozen lentil stash, so I guess I’ll be making more soon.

I had to get rid of 5 lbs of mozzarella somehow
