Is it just me or have they fallen off a cliff in terms of quality?

Holy Roller use to be my go to but it seems off now. Late last year they put out DDH Holy Roller but it was something like 4.6% abv. To me that says they messed up a batch of regular Holy Roller and tried to save it with extra dry hopping.

They also released Finial, a DIPA that they use to make a couple of years back. This Double ipa clocked in at 6.2 percent. Less than their regular ipa. Betting that was a screw up as well.

Every stout I've tried from them in the last year has been way too sweet.

The last 4 pack I bought from them was completely oxidized. I know that can randomly happen but it just compounds my thought that they are severely lacking in the quality control department.

They use to be the brewery to hit in New Orleans. Now, I'll go to Parleaux, Miel, Breaux Carre, and even NOLA (mainly for the pizza) before Urban South. Maybe all the focus has gone to the Houston location. Much better beer being brewed there.

Paradise Park was the only beer from them I had last time in town. Sad to hear the others have dropped off.

Seems like these have become the only three breweries in New Orleans that are even really trying these days.

Does Miel make much beer or just those slushies I see them promote on IG?

Holy roller is still my favorite of the normal hazy IPAs you can get it stores. Far better then Jucifer.

I got a 6 pack of their Ca Phe's and I really like those.

Most of the stuff they put out now is off the wall stuff I don't even bother to try

The true OG NOLA person will tell you it's bc of their brazen foray into the Houston market.

Their IPA series they’ve been doing, at least what I’ve seen in the Houston markets on the shelves, is a bunch of adjunct riddled stuff.

And yeah, I saw the 6.2 ABV “DIPA”, and after that figured I’ll never again roll my eyes at Parish for touting Atticus as a Triple IPA.

I hate to pile on and rag on them but I haven't liked any of their "snowball" beers

They were at their peak when they revamped Holy Roller and were putting out their architecture series

I suspect with their market penetration they no longer need to cater to the beer nerds.

that last snowball was horrible. threw 2 cans away.

The only Urban South I really enjoy is Holy Roller and it happens to be my favorite hazy IPA. Paradise Park is a decent light beer on a summer day.

I found it always to be really good, especially on tap. Haven't had one in about a month though.

It was more interesting when Urban South did their DDH and Finial offerings - now every "special" release is just sweeter-tasting snowball variants it seems like.

I finally got to visit Urban South Houston this weekend and really enjoyed it. My wife enjoyed the "spilled" slushie bar they have going with all the fruited sours, and of the 6 ipas on tap, the weakest was 6%. Most of them were 9-10% triples.
Could they be allocating the resources over here in lieu of investing in the NOLA brewery? The menu was as large as I've seen at a Houston brewery.

Holy Roller is still legit, but I'm not anywhere close to savvy enough to notice slight differences in quality or oxidation or whatever. I drank HR Grapefruit over the weekend and it was delicious.

Grapefruit HR is my favorite offering by them. But yea I have noticed a big drop off on the quality in the last couple of years.

Trust me, you would notice an oxidized beer. Horrible flavor and it can turn a hazy brown.

It had dropped out of my rotation too, as I did not think much of their spilled series smoothie type "beers." I have continued to drink Holy Roller, regular Snoball and grapefruit Holy Roller pretty routinely, bought from the grocery. Yesterday I went to the brewery for the first time in about a year. I got some Finial, Twelth Night barleywine, Expresso Stout and Schwegmann's bock. Will try some this afternoon around the firepit.

I’m butthurt because HTX gets the Spilled series. So on that note, I’m out on all US.
