Torchy’s on Nicholson - Worst in the Franchise?

We went to Torchy’s last weekend and while the food was good, the whole restaurant was in rough shape. Slow food, slow appetizers (we had to track down our queso), there were piles of dirty trays everywhere and just random trash on the ground.
Labor shortage aside, the restaurant wasn’t that busy when we went so it’s not like they were slammed. The locations in Houston and Austin just seem to be better run and manage to turn out food quickly despite being constantly busy.
Anyone experience anything similar?

Waited 2 hours on a call-in order once. That's 2 hours after the message said that it was ready. Never going again.

My experience was just the opposite but it was a while ago. Expensive , small portions, bland. But the place was clean and service was good.

I went the other day. Honestly found it to be slightly overrated.
Yeah, it was good, but nothing you can’t get at any other taco spot. Just a normal taco shop in my opinion.

There's something about Baton Rouge that is distinctly different from 90% of the other locations/cities.

Me and the other 15 people waiting on to go orders all said something. I had already paid online when I made the order. They told me "It'll be 15 minutes..." every 15 minutes.

Similar to the OP. I go to Norman Ok a lot and there is a Torchys across the street from the hotel. It’s fantastic. When I heard Torchys was opening here in BR, I couldn’t wait. Since it has been open I’ve gone twice. I won’t be back. Their service, cleanliness, etc is terrible.

I've been to Torchy's locations in Texas 3-4 times - I was always impressed. Tried BR location once... everything tasted like they spilled salt in it. Could not even eat the salsa it was so bad.
Service and cleanliness were fine.

The location here is horrible. When they first opened, the food would come out cold as frick half the time. We took a month or two off from it and came back, food was excellent. Waitress was like "oh yeah, we do everything made to order now." I was like WTF, yall didn't before?
It was pretty good for a while after that, but it seems to have gone to shite again. I think they're plagued with bad management/staff. Everything is so slow, the girls taking order are always retarded, everything is dirty. It's a shame because the food is good when things are working and it's a nice break from the traditional street tacos that we normally get (El Tio GOAT)

I remember sitting at a table with 3 other people (same check) and each person got their food like 2-3 minutes apart. And then the app cane after the tacos somehow. That is blamed on whoever was expo that night, but at the same time, a good server will help alleviate that.
They were busy to be fair, but that’s why you have the person in the kitchen keeping things organized so the food at the table isnt sporadic. Food is always good and it wasnt the end of the world, thus I’m always down for torchys. Having worked in a restaurant before, Im more understanding about certain things.

Just walk next door, get a beer and a slice of pizza and you'll be much happier!

Torchys im afraid is going down the same path as Fuzzys. I've been to both of the originals when they were cool college town taco shops.
Then they got too big and expanded nationally and started mass producing and quality went down.

They were never good.
Tourchys is still good but like the OP said, it depends on the franchisee. There is one in Dallas that is gawd awful. Go to the one by SMU and it's great.

When is Robert Irvine going to make an appearance?

I’m convinced Fuzzys is both the worst chain taco shop in America and likely a money laundering front.
I like within walking distance of a North Dallas Torchy’s. It’s excellent. We eat there often and are always taken care of.

I've only been to the Torchy's in the Austin area, Kingwood, and Waco. With that said, all have set the bar high if I ever visit the BR one.

I met the founder of fuzzys at a beer fest in Dallas a few years ago and you may be on to something that will end badly for you.
