As compiled by Brett Anderson:

Clancy's
Cochon
Commanders Palace
Coquette
Domenica
Gautreau's
Herbsaint
La Petite Grocery
MiLa
Stella!

Thoughts?
I'm baffled by the exclusion of August and Lilette and inclusion of Domenica and La Petite.

It's a solid list.

Agreed, August omission is unusual.

Not sure I'd throw MILA in there, it's the only restaurant I've ever walked out on.

Got to think the omission of August is some sort of brain fart.

I like Brigtsen's a lot but I don't think its Top 10.

And MiLa is a very good place that doesn't get a lot of love on here for some reason.

I tried to think of my top 10. I've got a list of 7 that are locked in: August, Stella!, Lilette, Gautreau's, Bayona, Cochon and Commander's. After that it's pretty wide open between Patois, Peche, Clancy's, La Boca, Coquette and Bistro Daisy.

MiLa being included and August being excluded has to be a bad joke.

I think Emeril's is quite easily a top 10.

Definitely strange that August and Lillete are not on this list.

Ate at Stella! recently, it was phenomenal.

Yeah...That's a disappointing miss.

Cochon

I enjoy the place and it gets a lot of national love, but I have little desire to go there on a consistent basis. It's probably in my top 20.

his review about MiLa points out that it has taken a turn for the better recently. And admits it has had some shortcomings in the last decade or so

Kind of surprised he put that list together this year, since he just recently returned to town. Its a solid list; when you limit it to 10, some solid places will miss the cut.

Going to Coquette for lunch tomorrow. Looking forward to scratching that off the list.

If I had to guess the recent departure of Michael Gulotta as chef de cuisine at August is the reason for it not being on the list. Lilette to me is in that strange land of not being old enough to be a classic (like Clancy's) and not young enough to be the hot new model.

I think that list is pretty accurate. Or let me put it this way, its one man's assessment of 10 restaurants in New Orleans which are performing better than all others. Sure I think we all have one or two we'd swap out, but in general those are the better restaurants in the city.
