At some point you gotta draw a line in the sand. $14 for a crowler of 4XDDH Envie. What's 4XDDH Ghost gonna cost $16-20? $120 a case?

Just read in the Advocate like two days ago, that he is considering moving to Texas because of Louisiana's shitty laws.
No he's not. He was making a point. He clarified his statement in a facebook post referencing his comments in that article.

I still really like bitter IPAs. Balanced, of course, but bitter. Even with NEIPAs I still like a decent bitter bite. Personal opinion, though.
I agree. I think 4xDDH almost smoothes it out too much, and that I like the little extra bitterness on the backend that regular Envie has - while still maintaining the juicy flavor up front.

this batch will have to be brewery-only as we don't have enough to distribute.

I wouldn't worry about it. The next Ghost will be out in no time, plus there are great beers all around you every day that you don't have to wait in line for or drive a long ways for.

quote:I went t a bunch of breweries in Houston this weekend and bought a crowler from each of them $14- $16 was the going rate. The price has nothing to do with what beer it is. People also bitch about the price of a 4/pk. Places like Trillium and Other Half charge $20+ per 4/pk.
$14 for a crowler of 4XDDH Envie.

$14 and up is high for a crowler, and would normally indicate that it is a special beer that is expensive to make or barrel aged. A crowler should cost $10 bucks or less for a "regular" beer. If the beer costs 5 bucks a pint, then 8-9 bucks for a crowler is fair.

$120 a case is above my pay grade. I'd rather get 3 cases of something else.

I went to Urban South on Finial release day and they told me the $12 4-pack cans they were going to release had an issue on the line and would not in fact be out that morning, but they were selling crowlers for $16.
GTFO.
Why penalize your customers for the fact that your canning line messed up? Also, that was not even as good as Modillon, so...they lost me on that one.

I had 2 Finial pints & 2 Finial growlers on release day for $34.80 after tax+tip; I think someone screwed you.

Bartender said $16 a crowler.
I left it at that and got out of there.

I think I'm making the trip with 2 others. Sounds like a good way to spend a Friday off.
