One is opening in Madison, MS and I went to check out their site and noticed they are a Louisiana-based chain.

Any good?

My wife loves it and we have to go anytime we're in BR or Lafayette. I'm not that impressed. Got the ribeye once and the sampler once. Wouldn't go back if I had to choose. Not terrible, but I didn't finish either plate.

Consistent good food for the price. Fish specials are always spot on.

I haven't been to one in a long time, but it's solid for a local small chain. I've enjoyed everything I've eaten there and I buy their sauces sold in stores fairly often.

Roasted corn grits
Pesto crusted trout
Thai ribs
Red beans
Asian almond shrimp

I usually get some apps and sides or the trout.

Is this the appetizer with the sweet sticky glaze? If so, these are fire.

This is good stuff.

I haven't been in about 5 years, but it's pretty good for what it is.

Food is very good for a chain.

It’s not ‘amazing’, but it’s a good neutral place when you have to eat with the family, in-laws, etc.

I usually get the ribs or the red beans n rice (which comes with sausage and chicken breast).

Zea is the kind of place you go eat mid-week to get a break from cooking dinner. The food is very good but it's not "special occasion" good.

Their red beans and rice and fried chicken is surprisingly good, but there are better things on the menu.

It's a solid mid-week, business lunch option.

about the best way to describe it. the corn grits are really good, everything else is "okay". it's a social hang out here in Lafayette.

I agree with everything you just said. But make sure the chicken is fried.

Absolutely. It is a chain and nothing special, but definitely a lot better than most other chains. Its good for family get togethers and that sort of thing because it generally has something for everyone and it will all be decent.

Ribs, Corn Grits, Thai Snap Beans

I won't go anymore. Food can be oily. I got a half chicken for $15 and I've had bigger leg quarters from other restaurants than the pitiful half-chicken. Always loved the grits. Didn't care for the steak. Ribs have good flavor but were consistently extra fatty. I don't know how they managed to do that. You have to sit at the bar for happy hour or one of the 4 tables. Thought that was ridiculous.

Yep. I wouldn't chose Zea over other local restaurants, but I wouldn't be upset if someone wanted to eat there. The duck empanadas are quite tasty.
