I have to say hello sushi was my first place to start experimenting with rolls and fresh fish but it has been left in the dust by other places in that area. It's probably the last place I would send somebody looking to get sushi on that side of town.
Totally agree. I hate it.
Kamados on Sherwood was actually my first place to have sushi and very few things I order elsewhere have trumped the Bonsai Roll there that I am obsessed with.

Congrats on the 1000th post! It only took 7 years!

The head chef at Kamados left and opened Sushi Yama. Haven't been to Kamado's since.
Last time I tried to go to Sushi Yama it was WAY to bright for a dinner service, but the food is great.
Koto offers the best overall experience.
Rock n' Sake has some great food also and is a great place for "hipsters."

Geisha in Denham Springs is very good, but my favorite is the Waka House on Sherwood.

I've been to Kamado's just once since Oi left, and I'll let you deduce as to why it's only been once. It's not that Kamado's is inferior at all, it's just not quite as good without Baton Rouge's best sushi Chef at the helm.

I have not been to many places there, but I did enjoy Wahada

Geisha is above par, but they need to add another 3-5 specialty rolls that feature raw fish. Their sushi menu appears to lean more heavily towards cooked rolls.
We ate there on Friday night and they had fresh wasabi plant leaves that appeared to be mashed up possibly with a mortar and pedestal. The heat was less than a quality paste, but lasted much longer. It was the first time I have seen this offered and I enjoyed the taste.

It works for their crowd but I agree some more fresh fish rolls. My wife makes me order at least 2 cooked rolls so it works for me.
Last trip I tried their roll with the tempura crawfish and torched escolar and it was very good. Nice char flavor on the fish.
