Rock N Sake Sucks!

Ichiban is one of the best in town! The got very high marks in 225 Magazine this month. 4 1/2 stars, 5 stars and another 4 1/2 stars on the ratings.

I hope you don't take the 225 that seriously. It's full of paid ads by the restaurants themselves...of course they are going to say good things about the restaurant.

Ichiban is pretty good though. I go to both Ichiban and Tsunami. Both are good.

Care to back that up? I have been pleased every time i have been there. I do mostly order apps and raw fish which is always fresh. One of the chefs did a special grilled scallop app served over cucumber slices with a creole sauce that was great.

I was skeptical about this claim at first(few years ago) but all one needs to do is look at the best of 225 to lay this claim to rest

Its my opinion. I have never had a great meal there and the service has always been horrible. Thats all I got.

I'm happy that you like it.

If you look at the next issue of 225... surprisingly there are many "thanks for voting us best of 225". And I know first hand, those ads are not cheap. It does give you idea on places to try out though.

Wahada is my favorite! I also enjoy Ichiban, and if I feel like being a yuppy, Tsunami.

No love for Derek Changs place? He does a good job.

Also the Thai place on Sherwood. Duang something? It's good as well.

I doubt that you have been. There service is too fast imo. There fish is the freshest in town. I live a block from the place and eat there often. There chefs are the only one's who will even consider doing a chef tasting.

They are good. I like their mussels as well. I usually eat their sashimi and rarely get rolls or nigiri. Most BR places have older fish that they mask with the sushi and sauces. I stay away unless I'm at a high end place on the west coast.

Killer scallops their were a little over salted for me but as I said I like the raw stuff. Grilled yellowtail neck is my favorite. The fins and skin are like cracklins!

Rock n sake and Thai kitchen are my two favorites for fresh fish.
Ichiban and sushi Yama for rolls.
Tsunami strictly for ambiance.
Don't ever get over to kotos but I hear good things.
Hello sushi is always disappointingly bad
Tokyo cafe has been disappointing the last two times as well.

Yama and Ichiban are probably the overall best. Wahada was my go to place because of how close it was to my place and it was pretty cheap. Tsunami was a lot better the last time I went but it is very expensive. Only one I have never tried was Waka house.

Waka House hands down.

And then I like Kamados on Sherwood!

I have to say hello sushi was my first place to start experimenting with rolls and fresh fish but it has been left in the dust by other places in that area. It's probably the last place I would send somebody looking to get sushi on that side of town.

Kamados used to be my go to spot. Haven't been in a while. Not sure how things have gone over there.
