Good call. One of the easiest drinks to make if you substitute grapefruit soda for grapefruit juice and soda water. Pound those all day on the beach and there is about a 60% chance someone's top is coming off at some point

Thanks for the replies. Time to check the liquor cabinet and research some of the drinks mentioned.

We just spent a week drinking Ranch Water. My wife found this recipe and I really liked the orange liquor addition to what I'm used to. Really refreshing beach drink. RTIC has a sale right now on their 40oz water bottles. We took 4 of those out with us each day.

2 parts tequila
1 part Citrónage orange liqueur
1 part lime juice
Topo Chico

My wife drinks Ranch Water but swaps out the tequila for Mezcal and puts spices on the rim

Muddle a sugar cube, add one shot of dark rum, one shot of light rum. Bitters. Top with club soda. Throw whatever fruit you have in the fridge in there for the ladies.

Red Derby, I was sitting outside on 103 degree heat sipping them last weekend. Considering it is bourbon based, it is very refreshing, very citrus forward.

Pretty sure the original Ranch Water is not made with orange liqueur at all! You would be correct in calling what has been offered so far as being a marg with Topo though.

Maybe, maybe not but the place that supposedly invented/popularized it makes it this way. My wife ran across this article when looking up beach drink recipes. The Ranch 616 place is apparently some sort of Genesis of this drink and this is their recipe:

quote:

Ranch 616’s Ranch Water Cocktail
Ingredients:

2 ounces Hornitos Reposado Tequila
1 ounce Patron Citronge
1 ounce fresh squeezed lime juice

Directions:
Add ingredients to a Collins glass, and fill with ice. Serve with a 12-ounce bottle of Topo Chico on the side.

That might be true Yat, but then as previous poster stated it’s just a marg with Topo.

Not sure why this got downvoted. Thanks for the heads up. El Guapo came in this week and it makes a great old fashioned. Using 4 Roses for now, but will try some rum with it soon.

Lots of good suggestions. Another my family used to do growing up was a Hilton Hammer if you like fruity drinks. It makes a gallon so its easy to get cold and shove in a ice chest for easy drinking in the sand.

HILTON HAMMER

2 (46 oz.) cans pineapple juice (unsweetened)
1 pt. coconut cream
4 shots vodka
8 jiggers rum
8 jiggers gin

Top with half orange slices with toothpicks; a gallon recipe; serve in 8 ounce tall coolers

If you can find a bottle of Pimm's then let me know. Pretty sure there is a severe shortage at the moment.

I don't think anyone has mentioned Mai Tai here. A bunch of ways to make them, but I've settled on the following:

3oz aged dark rum
1/2oz Disaronno Amaretto
1oz orange juice
1oz pineapple juice
1/2oz grenadine

Shake and serve over ice with a pineapple wedge and cherry for garnish.
