The crudo of the day is typically awesome, fish collar is great, I’ve really never had a bad item from there. Fried bread is also really good.

Suggestions for Peche
When I read the title I was prepared to hear about a poor experience you had and what you thought could improve it. My first thought was to not change a damned thing.
It's a rare visit to New Orleans when I don't duck into Peche. I've never been to a restaurant as many times as Peche that didn't serve me some sort of dish that wasn't firing on all cylinders. For instance, I'm not a fan of swordfish, but Chef Prewitt served me the best tasting and textured swordfish I've ever had.
I usually go with their raw tuna dish of day and a smoked redfish (or whatever they've smoked). I've had their oysters which are very good and they carry a few varieties, but it can be pricey. This is not a knock on Peche, hats off to them for offering different species of bivalves, but if it's oysters I want, they've a better variety at Seaworthy during happy hour. Half priced oysters from all around the US, and I believe Peche made me get at least a half dozen of each kind. With Seaworthy, you can get one of each to make a sort of flight of oysters.
You won't go wrong with anything at Peche. I've heard the desserts are killer too, but that's not my thing.
I always recommend going during off hours if you can because they're open all day. If you stop in around 3 or so, you'll always get a table and perhaps a seat at the raw bar, which is my favorite place to eat.

I can agree with that. A bit high. At least you get both filets though.

Last time we went we got the 6 variety oysters and the tuna dip for apps We split the whole redfish with the salsa verde. I wanted to try the shrimp noodles, so glad I did. Our sides where the Brussels Sprouts and the Potatoes. All excellent and the drink menu was on point as well. I don’t think you can go wrong with anything you order from there. Enjoy
One last thing..my only regret I had that didn’t get dessert. Don’t do that.

The price is printed on the menu. If your feel you’re getting ripped off, order something else. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve eaten there. I appreciate they are serving Gulf seafood and making creative preparations with it. Love sending people from out of town there.

They sell my oysters at SeaWorthy so I’m a fan! I’ll email Chicken if I can become the official Oyster of Tigerdroppings!

Peche has a damn fine steak tartare.

I love Peche. It comes out cheap every time we eat there. It’s great and reasonable in my opinion.

Can't really go wrong with anything at Peche. The smoked tuna dip is fantastic. Also the ribeye is probably the best steak in Nola. Peche is our "go to" for dinner in Nola.

Peche is very good. It’s a couple blocks from our place in nola. Desserts are my fav part. All homemade and very good. Hard disagree about being best steak in nola though. Doris takes that mantle.

Well you probably should report back and tell us what you got.
I usually Get the baked drum and the fried bread is insane.

I love Peche too but rarely go due to the prices.

Wow - I stand corrected. I agree, that’s way too high

See, I agree with Gris that we always get out so cheap.
However, we don’t order entrees or whole fish. And we are relatively light eaters. So it’s only like 3 small plates to share.

Those whole fish are meant to be shared. You can spend as little or as much as you wish.
Don’t want the price tag but want to taste the fish? Get the fish collar off the grill.

I think they were diablo when I had them, sauteed and spicy is my recollection.
Sounds awesome. First time I had Royal Reds (or even seen them in La) was at the Harbor Seafood in Kenner a month ago and they were kind of like this style. Damn fine meal.
Then I had them a few weeks later at a tourist crap place in Orange Beach and they were standard boiled style. Slightly dry and little seasoning.

If they have collar get it.
Can’t go wrong with seafood salad, fried bread, tuna dip and crudo. The steak tartare is amazing as well.
It’s crab season so I would try any crab app along with the crab capellini.
Catfish with spicy broth and greens is a mainstay for my wife and I.
All deserts are great. I’m partial to the pineapple upside down cake
