Right up there with SouBou and numbers as the worst names for a restaurant.

And people here thought Table was a terrible name for a restaurant.

so would this mean it's unlikely that Juban's is ever reopening?

NO SIR...it will reopen soon

The Rum House in Nola is the hottest restaurant on Magazine Street. I will never figure out why it didn't take in Baton Rouge. Best Jerk Chicken and margaritas in town.

I think the short-lived La Mange restaurant in Zachary deserves consideration as well.

For whatever reason, the transition from NOLA to BR hardly ever works. Rum House held that location down for quite a while though and for most of their tenure, they were doing quite well.
I think this was more of a chance for the owners to get out of the lease while things looked bleak than a financial failure overall.

Granted I haven't lived in BR in 4 years, but when I did, I felt like it was always busy. The terrible location probably didn't help. The happy hour on Tuesday was tGOAT, but traffic at that time was horrible.

Jubans was total shite in the last six months before closing.
P-Beaus could be good but their kitchen staff never hit basic things when I've been. Either cold food and even worse, unsalted fried items. How hard is that?
Portobellos is now more expensive with Scalfani and I dont see what for. The place was better before.

My wife's French poodle had this. Cost a fortune.

I assume becuase it is basically the Ruffino's menu, but I have to agree so far it has been 50-50 for me. First time I went, it was pretty good. I got the Veal Michael (I think they called it Veal Michelle there). Last time I went, I got the steak tourenados and it was not good at all.
Probably need to treat it the same way I treat Ruffino's and just order appetizers and Caesar salad.. which I think they have some of the best of both. I still go to Ruffino's, but much prefer it for apps/sitting at the bar than actually getting entrees.

Honestly, I think it's worse than the name in the OP.

The margaritas at rum house were the best in town? What?
This sounds like a similar concept to Rouge Creole...so overpriced ?

I don't find Rouj overpriced for what it is Everything I've ordered has been plenty of food and is priced about the same as places on its level.

Haven't had their jerk chicken to comment. I get my Jerk Chicken for Johnny's Jamaican food truck.

Best Jerk Chicken
I only tried it once but it had a cinnamon, almost sweet flavor. Wasn’t a fan.

I feel like Sclafanis places are working hard to do something quality but their food doesn't match the price point. Portobello's is meh. I like Rouge Creole but I feel like it's "almost." So now we have a new place with a cheeky name and it makes me think it's another almost kind of place. But I will certainly give it a couple of tries. Sometimes atmosphere makes up for mediocre.
