we were staying uptown and wanted to eat at home. We had given Reginelli's several tries over the last few stays, but were underwhelmed by the lack of sauce and dryness of the slices.

So, we decided to give two places a try this time. We ordered two larges from Slice Pizzeria and two larges from New York Pizza. Both places are near each other on Magazine, so we picked up from each place.

The consensus was that Slice had the better pizza. We will definitely get it again, but will also try some other places out to compare.

What would you say is the best take out option in the uptown New Orleans area?

Everytime I've gone to the new York pizza place on magazine the woman there seems rattled and not wanting to deal with customers

Theo's, while I don't think it's great, is better than Slice, IMO. Slice is inconsistent and the one on Magazine is especially bad. I think it's worth the trip to Carrollton to eat the pizza from Cafe Nino's. When Nino is there, it is the best pizza in the NOLA Metro.

IMO, Theo's is consistent and good.

Slice can be very good, but it's better to eat in.

Reginelli's is just okay . . . serviceable.

Nino's is good but a pain in the arse for me.

During Mrdi Gras the emotions of restaurant staff takes a turn for the worst. Too many days/nights of working ridiculous amounts of hours will turn you into Mr Hyde.

Slice is the bomb. One time, I had half a large from the Slice left over. As I was leaving my friend's house, I gave it to a bum under the 610.

His eyes got big and asked, "Is this from the Slice? That's the best!"

So, even the homeless agree.

I will definitely have our group try out Cafe Nino and Theo's next time since they rate well on the Geaux.com Dining Guide...

Ancora is very good. It's a little upscale and higher priced but I like it a lot.
