A few years back I had a kidney stone...i was a heavy caffeine coke drinker and my doctor said cokes were the worst thing that you could drink
Water was by far the best but if you do drink soda every now and then....clear soda like sprite is the way to go

At my lab we started calling Cokes flavored acid. Which is exactly what it is. When you think about the fact that you're drinking flavored acid then it becomes a little bit easier to turn down.
ETA: not a meth lab, I promise.

San Pellegrino soda?
Technically, I’d call it mineral water. I find Topo Chico is the best mineral water. It is the most carbonated.

These are the things I drink:
Coffee
Tea
Water
Mineral water
Wine
Booze
Beer
A little milk
I’ve never been interested in sugary soft drinks

I have pretty much cut out soda except for the occasional Rum and Coke.
Water, water w lemon and "flavored" teas have been my "go to" .. do not see a wine as a replacement, but if you want, try a Sangria, something light that's usually served cold.
...they also make a similar taste light SWEET WINE.

Once in a while I'll mix a small amount of the "sweet tea" with unsweet. Typical sweet tea is usually ridculous. Might as well suck on 10 sugar cubes.
A regular coke every once in a while. It would be unamerican not to.

Plain, unflavored San Pellegrino (green glass or plastic bottles) is just sparkling mineral water.

I was told last month my diabetes is so bad now that I have 90 days to improve my health OR go to insulin shots that week. Dropping cokes/diet cokes was a requirement by my Dr.. This Rant really helped me. I can not drink plain water, so I am going to try all the suggestions on here. Thanks.

Water. Black coffee. Cabernet. That's what you should drink.

6-8 a day. Jesus Christ.
How do you even get to this point?

It's obvious he realizes that. Your post was a big help to the OP.

wut?
You're a fricking adult. I guarantee you can drink plain water if you pulled your head out of your arse for a minute

Soda? You obviously are not from the deep south.

A lot of people don't. One can of doctor pepper is like 180 calories and many people suck them down and open another one. They want to cut back because of the sugar content, but don't realize they are drinking a while days worth of food as well.

So youd rather kill yourself than drink water? Not to be a dick, but that's about the softest and most weak minded thing I've ever seen.

Has the fizz, and zero calories. The twist of lime version is better than Sprite to me.
Plus, Mexicans are well known for the quality of their water.

Switch to a flavored sparkling water. After the sugar addition, your cravings could be the carbonation.

It's hard as hell to quit. I force myself to drink water.
