I adore duck confit; for many years, I made full-on cassoulet for Christmas eve, even doing the confit myself. Then it got harder and harder to find just duck legs, so I switched to purchased confit. I gave it up a while back bc it was just too heavy a meal when our weather isn't reliably cold (or even cool) in mid-December.

A seared confit leg parked next to some bitter greens is among my favorite things to eat.

I’m inclined to bake a pan of focaccia to go with the charcuterie spread and be done with it.

this sounds more like a spread for cocktails than a thanksgiving meal....but you do you...not real sure what you came here for if you're hell bent on this

I like the idea of roasting some chickens (or a bone in turkey breast) and making two great sides and a salad and rolls. Not hard and would feel more like Thanksgiving than a charcuterie board.

These two don't mix.

And herb crusted whole tenderloin is the way to go for a small group.

This is gonna be a weird Thanksgiving. I dont fault anyone for doing what they want to do (because that is different than government mandating what we can do).

How about charcuterie, raw oysters, champagne, cold arse martinis, and a big old ice cream sundae serving station.

Although I do like whoever suggested turkey sandwiches, but I would say as a lover of Club Sandwiches, a few really nice, Club sandwiches would be fun and in the tradition with tongue firmly planted in cheek. Roast a half of turkey breast (or pick up a few pounds of smoked turkey from a bbq place), some nice bacon, toasted bread, mayo, lettuce, tomatoes...hell that sounds good. #clubsandwichesnotseals

Have a good one, HO.

One of my favorite after Thanksgiving meals is a turkey sandwich on toasted dark rye bread with bacon and Durkee’s sandwich spread.

Stores sell shelled boiled eggs. Get a dozen and make a tray of deviled eggs.

Smother some green beans

Roast your Turkey breast .

Get a can of dressing mix and make some rice dressing.

Meat and cheese board for an app

Simple store bought tarte te la bouille for dessert.

Sound like you have a great attitude and are very thankful for your numerous blessings. Just get some sliced turkey deli meat, some white bread and make a fricking sandwich. Tell everybody else to leave you alone.

We always cook a big ham.

One of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving is picking at the ham for leftovers for several days and making different things with it. That makes it great for a small thanksgiving dinner.

If you haven't been there yet, check out D'artagnan Foods. They have everything you need to make a traditional cassoulet if you're ever in the mood again, and you can get the duck confit as well. Tons of other meats and french food as well.

It's been just me and my wife for the past 3 thanksgivings.

We usually do:

2 appetizers
Turkey/chicken
3 sides
2 desserts

This year it's gonna be

Deviled Eggs
Veg and Ranch Dip
Pepper Jelly/Crackers
Roasted Chicken
Mac and Cheese
Dressing
Green Bean Casserole
Brownies
Pecan Pie

It's a lot for 2 people. Seeing it in writing maybe I'll take out a dessert and a side and an appetizer. We can't eat all that food.

I’m thinking we might do seafood gumbo. Your charcuterie with a few extras sounds good to me.

I don’t get why so many have their panties in a twist over someone’s desire to do something on a smaller scale.
