A white nectarine so juicy you have to eat it over the sink.

One of my dad's ripe creole tomatoes picked off the vine eaten in the field like an apple.

Finding three olives in your martini when you are hungry.

Grapefruit picked right off the tree on a Florida morning. Pre shower because those things are sooooo juicy.

Paper thin Chisesi ham on Bunny Bread with a light kiss of Blue Plate mynez on both sides.

Having a big soft chunk of pickled meat in your bowl of creamy Camellia red beans.

A slice of hogs head cheese on a saltine.

A half bulb of garlic picked from a batch of crawfish that was just dumped onto the picnic table.

I know "culinarily" is not a word

No, but perhaps it should be.

My greatest food memory is of course from my grandmother. She used to make orange zest crepes and roll them up with vanilla bean sugar. This is back in the early 70's. Best breakfast ever. She was my personal Julia Child. Miss you, Ma Mere!!

Well I would take all three pages of posts.

I'd add a simple roasted chicken with pan jus.

Soft scrambled eggs in butter.

Easy eggs basted with bacon grease.

Can of King Oscar double layer sardines in olive oil and a sleeve of saltines

Two of my favorites.

The Gordon Ramsey method is pretty phenomenal when it comes to scrambled eggs. I love adding some onions and smoked salmon.

Simple:
A perfect Fuji apple
my grandfather's creole tomatoes out the garden
summer sausage, a butter cracker, and a slice of sharp cheddar.

Less Simple:

grilled cheese

hotdog charred on the grill
plain white hot dog bun
mustard

thick cut ham seared in a skillet, folded in to an omelet with cheddar cheese

Least Simple, but still simple:
bone in/ skin on chicken thighs, marinated in Italian dressing, crisped to perfection on a charcoal pit with baked beans on the side and a plain slice of white bread to mop the plate.

I use smoked salmon a lot. I also buy the brined black truffles at Whole Foods and add them to the eggs. Good thing I'm the only one in the house that likes them so I can afford it.

I can't do that on and off. I just cook very low and slow.
