Anytime I'm having to cook a dinner with shrimp, I'm perfectly content removing the shells and cooking them. My wife, on the other hand, insists on deveining every damn shrimp and, if she's around, insists I do the same because otherwise she won't want to eat them.

Do you guys devein?

I prefer deveined and taste the difference, but I wouldn't turn down shrimp not deveined.

Devein. Peel them all, then devein them all.

Do you taste the difference even if they're in a sauce of some sort?

I always thought I had a pretty perceptive pallet but I can't say I've ever tasted the vein. That's some supertaster shite.

Deveining shrimp is a feminine characteristic.

The only time I devein shrimp is if using large shrimp and I butterfly them. Doing so exposes the dark vein in the tail and it is real easy to remove it.

Other than that, never. It is just too damn much trouble to do that. Just like those folks that devein their crawfish when they eat them. I love them because all the time it takes them to do it, I'm eating away.

Really depends on the size and dish. I surely don’t devein crawfish when I’m eating them.

Devein, yes every time. I use a fork to peel and devein in one motion so no extra time involved.

I devein, but if I'm eating something prepared by someone who hasn't deveined, it doesn't stop me from eating.

For me, it's not a taste difference, it's that occasionally, you get a bit of grit, and I know it's from the vein.

Most of the time I peel shrimp with scissors so they kinda get de-veined anyway. But I don’t have a strong feeling either way.

A shrimp just tastes better when you open it up a bit and let the sauce/seasoning contact the softer inside flesh.

Buncha lazies in here.
