Who thought this was a good idea? You have to get someone to come unlock it for you every time you want to buy something. I asked the girl at the register and she said no one was warned until the day they installed these and that everyone is already extremely annoyed by it

It's because of theft. Three other of their stores I have been in are there or in line to be.

It's a grocery store near a college, kind of goes with the territory.
I think they have trouble with a-hole college kids there. A co-worker's grandson works at that Rouses and the poor kid had to stay late cleaning up because some drunk dipshits thought it would be funny to knock over displays.

I was asking about this at that store an hour and a half ago. The Rouses' liquor lady said that they don't have enough people to staff that area fully during the day. Don't know if that's actually the reason, but they have bourbon and vodka at the ends of the aisles that isn't under lock and key.

Is it that hard to believe that they have to lock up the most expensive things in the store that get stolen the most?

This is why we can’t have nice things.

Yeah but their liquor is in the front of the store in view of the service desk and registers. Besides, I don’t think WD has near the selection Rouses does.

I’d imagine their was a ton of frickery going on in Rouses with the location and selection in their department

It's not the most expensive things, its the brands most stolen. I have 2,000 dollar bottles sitting out for anyone to grab, but Crown and Goose are secure behind the counter

I worked at the Winn-Dixie on that corner when I was in college. When we didn't have anything to do, we would sit in the back of the seafood area and see how many people we could catch stealing liquor. Locking it up doesn't surprise me.

I'm actually trying to remember if it is out in the open at any WalMart..

I was recently told the CVS right there has these people come in every week and "shop" by filling their cart and walking out the door and loading it into their car. So apparently its all free over there, although their liquor is locked up too.

Now I get mad at myself every time I go in and pay for my stuff like a chump

I was at a WAWA gas station here in Jacksonville and they had them all locked up. Guy told me they had $1000 in theft in the last week. This place just opened a couple months ago. sad

Worked at the Albertsons on college in the liquor Dept during college. Routinely had the homeless walk in and take whatever they wanted. All we could do was tell them to stop. I sure as shite wasn't risking anything over a few bottles of thunderbird

Something I noticed at Joe Canal's in Jersey when I lived there. A chain of big liquor stores like Specs, Martins, etc. They have locked cases in the scotch section for bottles that were hundreds of dollars. They also had a locked case in teh brandy section for the same. But I noticed the other thing in the brandy case that didn't belong there was regular bottles of Hennesey. I asked a guy who worked there why those were locked up and he said they were the most stolen item in the store.

I stopped by the Walgreens on Broad St. near Gentilly Blvd. the other day and even the deodorant is locked up. It was like plastic cages over everything in every aisle.
