Will be in town on May 1st and looking for a good place to eat/drink. Good cocktails appreciated, also...

Nothing too fancy, as we're just passing through and will be dressed casually. Thinking seafood, but am open to suggestions...

One of the best breweries in Georgia is located in Savannah, but it's not anywhere near the riverfront.

Two Tides Brewing is worth the detour to experience great beer.

They have an onsight food trailer, but you won't find seafood there.

Repeal 33 is good and not too fancy if you go for lunch.

Crystal Beer Parlor has a great tap list and some seafood on the menu.

If you're in town for breakfast, Narobi's Grits & Gravy is hard to beat.

Unfortunately most of the cool old dives on River Street, like Kevin Barry's, got gutted to build the cookie cutter plant riverside district. Vic's on the River and Cotton Exchange are good food options down there though.

If he insists on being on the river, I will second Vic's.

Olympia Cafe on the river. No joke one of the best meals I’ve ever had

I don't, but that is where we'll be staying. I thought there must be someplace on the riverfront worth going to. Are you saying there are places worth the drive that we should check out?

It's been 20 years since we've been to Savannah. What happened to the waterfront? Did they ruin it?

I'm heading there tomorrow through Tuesday, I also haven't been in about 2 years. I'll try to remember to report back my findings.

One spot I know for sure is excellent, and everyone would agree, is the Olde Pink House. Get reservations well in advance. They have a cellar-like bar that is much more casual than the main restaurant, but still has the same menu.

It's in the historic district, but it isn't "on the river". It's two blocks off the river on Reynolds Square.

"On The River" is where all the most touristy of tourist stuff is. All of the charm and character and quality of the town is a block off the river going south, all the way down to Forsyth Park.

Sad to see Moon River brewery is closed. That was a nice little spot.

Ate at the Boar’s Head on two separate trips 4 and 5 years ago. On the river. Ate apps at the bar - quite good. Menu representative of Savannah and reviews are good. Bartender convinced me to try Monkey 47 in my martini instead of Hendricks. Great result.

Had a nice experience at Wine Bar on the River. If you want live music and a cold beer, The Warehouse Bar and Grill was fun.

I’m a big fan of The Darling Oyster Bar it’s a few blocks off the river front by Franklin Square. Checks two of your boxes seafood and great cocktails.

Tonight we walked to Veratina, an Italian restaurant by Forsyth Park we could walk to after a long day followed by driving 4.5 hours. Everything was good, the food, the service, the atmosphere, and not too uppity. But it was expensive.

Hanger Steak (excellent)
2 chicken parms (excellent)
1 wedge (very good)
1 fried potato side (very good)
One spaghetti/marinara side (mediocre, got it to go with the chicken Parm because it don't come with any pasta or side)
1 wine
2 Creature Comforts "Flash Cat" beers (need a new thead on this, might get back into IPA's after drinking this one)
2 desserts (very good)
20% tip

$250

As we were walking out, Kelly Rippa was walking in. I held the door open for her. That was the most interesting part of the experience.

She probably didn’t eat a full portion of anything. I’ve eaten meals that may have weighed more than her.

For seafood in Historic District, Sorry Charlie’s or Darling Oyster Bar.

There are tons of great options but those will be best bets for casual seafood. Darling may require reservation but Sorry Charlie’s won’t.

Where is this exactly? I’m familiar with Saint Bibiana in Hotel Bardo on the park but not this.
