Never do I add the amount of garlic recommended in a recipe. I always double at the bare minimum and then a lot more most of the times.

If using store bought pre chopped garlic or whole peeled garlic. It has lost some of its qualities in the preservative processes. I hate peeling fresh garlic however, fresh garlic is the only garlic I will use.

In my much younger days, I didn't know the difference between "cloves" and "head." Used too put two entire heads in most dishes. Was pungent as hell.

Im lazy. Always just use the minced garlic in jar. No matter what recipe calls for I just dump in a big spoonful.

Same here. Takes 4 or 5 days it seems to get that fresh garlic smell off your fingers when you chop fresh garlic.

This reminds me of the thread about browning onions in 10 minutes. If it says brown onions for 10 minutes, I do it for 45.If it says 2 cloves of garlic, I put at least 10.

In addition to this, like another poster above, I hate dealing with fresh garlic. Here is the Blue Apron corner of my fridge,

Also, for those who don't like peeling garlic...

Take the cloves off the head, place in a large bowl put the bowl together with another bowl and shake vigorously. You'll hear the change in sound once all the cloves have peeled. It's awesome.

Wife randomly got me one of these as a stocking stuffer for Christmas.... Its amazing how well it works. No longer do my hands get all sticky peeling garlic, and its really quick. Just roll it for like 2 seconds. As soon as you hear a pop, you take it out and the garlic clove is completely peeled.

My wife who is not at all the cook of the house made this mistake when she tried to surprise me with dinner one night. The recipe called for just one clove of garlic...she put in a head...barley chopped em. I got home to a "I dun fricked up look on her" in her face.

I'm lazy too but I want it fresh so I use this. I also generally double the amount of garlic called for in a recipe.
