Closed permanently. High lease and average food did them in.

It’s unclear at this point what specifically went wrong and McGoey is declining comment. But when Galatoire’s operated in the space, it had one of the steepest lease rates in the area. According to documents previously reported by Daily Report, Galatoire’s was paying $40 per square foot for the space—including base rent and an amortized capital reimbursement payment to cover the cost of the $945,000 build out of the restaurant, originally developed by Commercial Properties Realty Trust.

McGoey spent more than $250,000 redecorating the restaurant, closing in its signature patio and introducing a new menu concept.
wow, I think I know what happened

Holy smokes...it wasn't exactly a dirt floored hovel in need of a total remake.

I wish a really good restaurant would move into that spot...something like MR B's or HOUSTON'S....

Houston’s
Their footprint in Louisiana is minimal. If they closed the one down in Metairie that was there for years and always packed, how would it do better in this location? Not to mention, Baton Rouge loves J. Alexander’s, which is a comparable restaurant.
Wonder if Drago’s would do better at this location or the one they’re building on Constitution

Good. That place was terrible. Hopefully something better moves in.

I hated to see that patio go. I thought that was a mistake.

That and the Goudchaux Salad were the only things good. That’s going to be a tough space to make anything work especially with those numbers.

NVM I’m thinking of Picnic in New Orleans

That was my pick in the 2019 thread of predicting what BR restaurants would close. Before it got whacked.

Oh. People DIDN'T want to pay high end prices for fried chicken? I'm shocked.

It certainly seems that way.

I just went to the website to look at the menu again, but they've already updated it to say they're closed.
We went a while back during happy hour to have a drink, and I looked over the menu while sitting there. It had easily 40 items on it, and many of them used ingredients nothing else on the menu used. There's no way that food was being made fresh or that they were turning any of it at a reasonable pace.
