Wow, I wonder what they paid the interior designer that came up with that wall of Campbell Soup cans?

I did enjoy my club sandwich and the fries were very good as well.

That was my thread. I commented in it that ripping off customers at a neighborhood spot wasnt sustainable, guess I got that one right.

If you are thinking of picnic in Nola, I have been overly shocked with the number of people they consistently have there. I’ll eat there about once a month, mostly because it’s the closest restaurant to me, but it was a lot better value when they very first opened. Now, it’s $16 for the basket of 4 pieces of their fried chicken and a biscuit.

Probably too small for Houston’s, but it would rock n roll there

I wonder if the parent company is going to move forward with The Vintage at the old Magpie location downtown, or just back out of BR all together.

You're thinking of Picnic & Provisions in New Orleans. And yes, people do. The place is consistently packed. But I appreciate the product they put out.

I honestly can't even criticize the place because I never went. What I can criticize them for is not doing anything to lure people in. I never had any interest in going to try it.

Just thinking of all the other places that have opened up recently in BR that are successful, or I expect to be successful... It didn't have a chef/brand associated with it like Rouj creole, Govt Taco, Soji, etc. It didn't have a rooftop like Bumsteers (in fact it had an awesome patio until they took it away). It wasn't a great deal price-wise like a Lit Pizza. It had a huge floorplan, meaning it had to attract alot more people, unlike Eliza. And it had no theme at all, the menu was all over the place.

Never went, knew it would fail, and every trip to Trader Joe or Acme, I was just bewildered at the money spent to ugly up what was a beautiful building left by Galatoire's.

Isn’t Houston’s having to close down a location or two in Houston, itself?

Went there for the first time ever for lunch a couple weeks ago. The prime rib sandwhich was heavenly. However, it seemed to have a setting for older people who don’t get out as much anymore.

Kind of like Guidry’s Reef in Lafayette (I know...different type of restaurant). Food excellentlly done, but without the atmosphere those who go out on a regular basis are looking for, then it’s tough for those types of restaurants to survive.

The Houston’s on St. Charles seems to be doing great. Not sure about other locations. Still surprised that the Metairie location closed down after all those years.

I went there for brunch one Saturday with the gf and it wasn't anything worth remembering. We were also the only people in there besides some group meeting for a baby-shower or something. I don't understand how someone spent a quarter of a million to renovate that place from Galatoire's design.

Went a few months ago. No idea how it lasts. I guess central city residents keep them in business.

The food.

Not exactly bad, just not worth going back.
