I have a reservation for Restaurant August, but it's at 5:15 pm, which is earlier than we'd like but they are totally booked the night we want to go. I can get Pelican Club reservations at a time we'd like, and the menu looks very good.

What would you do?

We'll be going to Commander's for brunch the next day. We'll also be having lunch in New Orleans, so the 5:15 dinner just seems too early.

I've been to a lot of restaurants and August was one of the best experiences I have had. Had the wine paring menu and it was incredible.

I have not been to Pelican Club, but, August is top notch

I like August better than Pelican Club. 5:15 may sound early but for some reason it's a great time in new orleans. This could be because we start drinking at lunch/brunch and are in dire need of food by 5:15pm.

I like the wine pairing dinner. That was one of the few times I ever tried a red wine that I loved.

August. Not even a close call, no matter what time the reservation.

Two great restaurants. All else being equal I would give my vote to August, but if you think they will be giving you the bum's rush at 5:15, I would go to the Pelican Club and save August for another time. Last time I went to August I sat at the table next to Brook Shields.

August, no doubt. Just skip lunch and go hungry early

Looks like I'll be keeping that 5:15 reservation.

August and it's not close ... If you need to get a later reservation I would look into getting one at Josephine Estelle

Way too early for me, but you'll likely enjoy August out of the two.

I have never had a good meal at Pelican Club. Its fussy, dated food.

August on the other hand is very good. You will sit at 515, get drinks, order and probably at 545 will get the seafood amuse egg thing.

Agreed. Many disagree but I just don't care for The Pelican Club at all.

Darla, check with August a few times for cancellations on later reservations.

Yep. I don't think it's "bad", but I just don't care to go to the place.
