I make about twenty grand for each top 10 I do. But I don’t sell slots.

It's eating Nola, and they were asking restaurants for money to be included on their must eats list for Mardi gras.

The original account owner recently had posted that the account was for sale. No big deal though, just another way to advertise.

Site says "My" Top 100 Mardi Gras Eats, but that's not true. He's not listing his top places. He's listing whoever pays in the most in that order.

Maybe his criteria for favorite restaurant is the one who pays him the most.

IF he gets 100 to pay, I'd bet he hasn't even eaten at all of them.

Agree. It's a non-issue if it's labelled as sponsored content or whatever else you want to call it. It's unethical if it's published without that known.

To be fair, until this blew up like it has, I'd be willing to bet he wouldn't have labeled it as sponsored content. He might do it now that people have revolted, though

He's just an individual with an IG account - not a legitimate publication or business of some sort. There's a lot of these accounts on IG. They kinda remind me of super Yelpers. It can be a bit cringe.

I responded to that post and asked him who he was apologizing to but afterwards he shutdown the ability to comment on the post.

He uses a lot of "our" and "we" but it looks like it's just one guy.

Are there ethics in insta-whore posts though?

Probably not in the vast majority, but you never know. I doubt this person would have said it was paid, but I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt until all facts were known and the article was published, or whatever it is you do on instagram.

One of the restaurants leading the charge just posted a proud pic of them getting on the cover of Gambit. With the hashtag #notpaidadvertisement

Guess they are good with how Gambit does their rankings.

I think eatingNola should have the right to do what he did and the restaurants should have the right to do what they did.

Just find it humourous they are bragging about making cover in Gambit. A newspaper known to hand out awards to those who advertise with them a lot.

What a weakling. Your reputation is ruined and you are getting blackballed by the big players might as well make your money.
