He is pitching a list of must eats based off his criteria

He is putting his reputation out there with his list. If Bubba Gump bought the first spot people will know the rest of the list is shite.

After spending the last 10 min looking at Larry Miller Instagram I don’t think I will ever give another dime to Compere Lepin or ABA again—what a douche!

Agree. It's a non-issue if it's labelled as sponsored content or whatever else you want to call it. It's unethical if it's published without that known.

Blue Giant seems big mad at eating Nola

ETA: he blocked me when I asked if his Arkansas trip will cost about $500 per restaurant

Hey we've only been selling our souls for 29 years. We aren't sure it will work.

The influencer trend is when I officially became an old “get off my lawn” man.

Don’t get it

It's simple. Social media, especially Twitter, gives a louder voice to the stoopids.

Keep in mind that every "Top __" list you see on any website is bought and paid for.
Look up affiliate marketing if you're interested. It pays very well.

Just know that everything you see or hear in your daily life is a product begging for your money. And if something is free, then you are the product.

But honestly, depending on how many followers this guy actually has, this is pretty cheap advertising for the restaurant.

You kinda gotta respect the guy for coming out just straight hooker style. I guess the real estate market is a little rough currently.

Social media has largely filled the roll that used to belong to local newspapers. Influencers are sorta freelance critics. People vote on which influencers have value based on whom they choose to follow and react with. Influencers are paid through product placement and ad revenue, much like a radio broadcast. This money often isn’t enough for regional influencers in small markets, so they attempt to use other means to use their “influence” to make money. Pay-for-play and extortion are common rackets. The most notorious on the OT is the Rouge Collective blog, who threatens businesses with false racism allegations if they don’t pay to donate to fake charity organization run by Rouge Collective contributors.

Are there ethics in insta-whore posts though?

I gave BMoney shite all the time because his stuff was quasi-sponsored and he just brushed it off. It's part of advertising, viral marketing is big for a reason.

The unfortunate difference is that "influencers" can increase their reach exponentially if they post a few pics of their girlfriend 75% naked. It's like if the newspapers just decided "hey frick it" and included a full page spread in every section of some hot chick's arse.

Pretty much. Don’t forget they can also buy fake bot accounts to follow them and react to their posts. There is no integrity on the internet. Heck, there was barely any integrity in print journalism to begin with. Now, you have more options, but it puts businesses, especially restaurants, in a tough position of deciding who to cater to to drive customers to their business.

I don't follow that page on FB, but I looked and didn't see anything. I may not be able to see all the posts.
