New Year's Eve menus - What's your plan?Posted by Chitown_Badger
on 12/31/20 at 11:20 am

What's everyone's dinner plans for tonight? We're doing shrimp cocktail appetizer, cast iron pan fried prime steak, smashed potatoes, and king crab legs with lemon butter.
And then tomorrow I'm smoking a pork butt in 32 degree weather for the games

Drinking and making a pizza... Weather is shitty so I will be asleep by 9 and will probably wake up at midnight when the fireworks start going off, then back to bed

Locking myself in my house. Veuve Cliquot, butternut squash soup, Grilled veal rib chop with a good bottle of Gevry-Chambertain, Italian cream cake for dessert, then the rest of the Veuve Cliquot at midnight. Happy New Year to everyone.

Growing up my parents always made me eat hog jowl, black eyed peas, and collard greens. I had to have at least one bite of each. I hated it, but even as an adult I would cling to tradition and eat it anyway.
I am now 65 years-old and both my parents are no longer here. I am not going to eat the stuff that they forced on me. I have yet to decide what it will be, but I am going to eat something that I like. I've had enough of the ridiculous "eat this for good luck" nonsense.

Gonna do the butter, thyme, garlic sautee thing in cast iron. Is that a bad idea?
