It does, and that massive dipshit is smeg. Grimaldi’ s has multiple locations in multiple regions of the country. That’s a national chain.

So 1/5th of the the states with a handful of locations in those states is national now?

What would you call it?

Does it need to have a spot in all 50 states? Is it a local chain, when it has a spot in Arizona and New York? Is it regional, when it has spots in the SW, NE and SE?

Is it the number of spots that does it for you?

Basically it should be a pizza that just about anyone can get anywhere in the United States. Something ubiquitous, like McDonalds. That probably means thousands of locations across nearly all 50 states.

Without checking, I assume that would be:
Pizza Hut
Domino's
Papa John's
Little Caesar's

If you wanted to count Sam's Club, I guess you could.

Something in 11 states clearly doesn't count.

Dominos is the worst. I like their toasted subs but don't care for the pies at all. It's probably not national, but Casey's General Store has the best chain pizza around here. It's on par with Godfathers and Mazzios. Not sure Mazzios even still exists, but it was the shiznit in the 80s.

had Grimaldi's for the first time in Destin a few weeks ago and that shite was much better than I expected considering I wasn't at the OG location.

Jets is great chain Detroit style

I grew up going to Mazzio's every week for their tuesday night buffet. it closed in my hometown and I haven't seen one anywhere around since then.

PH thin crust does fine in a pinch.

Dominoes is inconsistent.

Pizza Inn is the GOAT of regional chains but hard to find nowadays.

You’re confusing “National Chain” with fast food. Hence, the pizza restaurants you listed are the fast-food of pizza.

Doesn’t mean Grimaldi’s is not a national chain.

Here in Abu Dhabi they have those big 3 in Pizza Hut, Dominoes and Papa John's, and Pizza Hut dominates as it was here first. Just like for fried chicken, KFC dominates here over Popeyes but they are catching up a bit. In Indonesia there is probably over 500 KFC's.

I had a nice double pepperoni from Pizza Hut a couple nights ago that was awesome, even if beef pepperoni as they don't serve pork. Sometimes I make my own pizza dough at home and buy pork pepperoni at pork rooms and enjoy, pepperoni, pork sausage n mushrooms.

I get Dominoes almost weekly for my kids after one of their practices. Under $9 for a large pizza on the app is hard to beat and ready to pick up on the way home. Extra cheese on one side and peperoni with regular cheese on the other side. Always correct and consistent. And it's the only pizza my enjoy cold the next day.

I'll have a piece on occasion. It is what it is. Hand tossed crust isn't bad.

They like Pizza Hut too but I'm cheap and Dominoes is 4 minutes away.

10-15 years ago maybe.
Use to have 2 locations in my area, both were pretty good.
One closed years ago due to road construction traffic killing it.
The other has just gone in the shitter. Last few times I was there, the employees all looked like they were hired as day labor at the methadone clinic or meth heads on work release, they charge for bottled waters, (can't get a cup and have unlimited ice water now), and the pizzas were dry and skimpy on toppings. How that location has hung on this long is a mystery to me.

Right. 11 and 12 year old boys eating pizza once a week after Jiu Jitsu. I need to reassess my life. They'll have quinoa and tofu tonight instead.

Loser.

This is the opposite of a chain, but shoutout to Turtle Bay in the French quarter. They have respectable pizza.
