Lipton Noodle Soup Packets

They are my guilty pleasure. Dry chicken broth and noodles. Add water, a little shredded chicken, an egg in the last minute or so in the microwave and a little sriracha and it’s hard to beat!

I agree! My mother always had it in the pantry as her go to for lunch or if someone was sick. What was so funny was she hated the one that had pieces of chicken in it and would not buy it even though it was the same soup! Not sure if they still make that version.

I refuse to buy it, too- Something about freeze dried chicken doesn't sit right with me. Dehydrated broth is perfectly fine though

Mine too. Dump a pouch in a pint of sour cream and grab a bag of ruffles...

I've probably mentioned this before, but that soup is always in my pantry. It's my go to if I feel puny or just had some dental work or want a quick hot soup lunch. This is especially true if I don't feel like getting a Chinese soup, my other go to. I love the texture of those thin noodles.
I only add 3 cups of water rather than 4. Sometimes, I drop a little chopped parsley in it, but otherwise, I haven't really doctored it up. That can be done easily, though.

Not to hijack your post, but does anyone ever use the French Onion Soup mix to actually make the soup? We have always used it in recipes, but never made soup with it.

That and a PBJ sandwich.. Reminds of the good old days.. I might have to pick me up some of that stuff..

I’ve often thought the same thing

I think you mean the Lipton Onion Soup correct? Unless you’re eating dried noodles with your Ruffles.
Like above my mother always had them and although we ate a lot of Campbell’s Chicken Noodle I enjoy both and have them in my pantry as well.
And I eat or used to eat a lot of homemade French onion dip (as per your recipe-sans noodles) and Ruffles. And not the baked Ruffles the full fat fried originals.

I have and it's pretty damn good too.
It's kind of like cream of mushroom soup in the can, I dont know of anyone who eats that as soup.

My family used to make cheese toast and pour the heated cream of mushroom over it when I was a kid.

Do y’all remember when Campbells came out with Chunky Soups? There was a cream of mushroom version that I liked as a soup. I was having some for lunch in the teacher’s lounge one day and a co-worker was appalled that I was actually eating it. She wouldn’t give it a rest and kept shouting, “That’s an INGREDIENT, not something you eat!” I sat there and calmly enjoyed my soup. Also, the chunky version is not usually the ingredient one.

I make mushrooms on toast. Butter, flour roux then milk, mushrooms, salt and pepper little bit of this and that. My father was in WWII and loved dried beef on toast (shite on a shingle) so we had it or mushrooms on toast. I still make both.
We also made this over toast
I still do this as well.
This is the dried beef I buy and soak in water to get the salt out.

I went on a 10 day float hunt in Alaska, we would frequently stop , boil some water and add an envelope of soup mix, made for a great warm/pick me up snack

Those are good! I haven't had any in a while but now I want to get a box the next time I go to the store.

Always a staple in my pantry. Cheap and easy. Some fresh ground black pepper and it's good to go.

Always a box or two in my pantry. When anyone in the house has a sore throat or feeling puny I use that as an excuse to cook some up. I use liquid than called for and use chicken broth instead of water. Add a can of chicken a can of carrots and some fresh celery. Blows Campbell's chicken soup away and I love a can of Campbell's every now and then.
