Sad day for New Orleans restaurants, but it just couldn't survive this.

Unfortunately I think we are going to see a lot more of this.

Bummer. What happens in a year from now when tourism is back and the general public are out eating in full force again?

Will we just not have restaurants? I have to think many (some at least) of these places that are closing permanently will eventually be back.

Yes, and I think some on that list are going to be shocking.

KPaul's isn't too shocking.

Honestly, I'd been waiting for the K-Paul's announcement for quite some time. The heart just wasn't in the place any more. Not everything lasts forever, especially not a place so connected to the founder. RIP, chef P...

While the losses are going to be deep...new stuff is coming. Remember the tears shed after Katrina, and then an interesting new wave started rolling through NOLA and we got some great food out of it. I don't wish hardship on anyone, but change just *is*.

A bigger and better group will come in and take over the space and open under a different name

More will open, I think overall though this will change a lot of restaurants business strategy.

Unfortunately I don’t think the “comeback” will be like post Katrina. The federal aid and outpouring of donations and love from out of out of town visitors just doesn’t seem like it will be the same. I hope I’m wrong

I just do not want chains to replace local restaurants, local restaurants is what makes NOLA unique in the food arena.

Really hate to hear this. They were the best at what they did.

That's a good point. Everyone is in the same boat this time.

Not sure about "better" but the big restaurant groups (local and abroad) will move into these spaces. These will play perfectly fine with the tourist heavy crowds in FQ.

*I'd love to see Aaron Sanchez take the location over and maybe keep some of the dishes alive while adding new ones and revitalizing.

Agree. There is no "end date" or even a wild guess as to when things will go back to normal. As of now, it's all speculation with heading back to square one once again to try to get a handle on this thing.

New restaurants fill void

As long as we have capitalism and there is money to be made they will come
