Wishful thinking at this point IMO

The timing is irrelevant. Do you think this situation is permanent? It can be two years, three. All pandemics pass, and when it does - the demand will return. I'm just curious if the previous owners will return at this point. If they were profitable prior, I don't see why not.

then new restaurants come in

but i don't know if there will be anywhere near the same demand, especially if we're talking 2-3 years

this isn't just a Nola issue. Europe, China, and other affluent countries are about to face major economic depression. tourism is going to take a major hit

Kind of hard for the region/country to invest in a city they love when the entire country has been obliterated by their own government.

I was mostly referring to the 1 year timeline

It's really hard to say what will happen in 2-3 years. The goal posts keep moving and the "new normal" keeps changing.

I don't think anyone knows

I just do not want chains to replace local restaurants, local restaurants is what makes NOLA unique in the food arena.

If the chain doesn’t have a drive thru they’re on the chopping block too

When the dust settles you’re going to see new restauranteurs and new, innovative concepts come onto the scene

I'm curious to see what people somewhat in the industry think that future looks like

So true. And national corporations were leery of investing in New Orleans after Katrina, which gave space for small, local businesses to emerge.

That won't be the case this time. The soulless faceless corporations wil be ready to pounce this time.

Not sure about "better" but the big restaurant groups (local and abroad) will move into these spaces. These will play perfectly fine with the tourist heavy crowds in FQ.

*I'd love to see Aaron Sanchez take the location over and maybe keep some of the dishes alive while adding new ones and revitalizing.

Donald Link, Justin Devillier, The Bennans, Emeril, just to name a few are all better

Do you follow him on Instagram? Dude isn’t from here but he lives here now and damn he truly loves New Orleans. I love to see it.

Sure. If one of those moved in then all would be well and good.

the days of fast food having lobbies are coming to an end...they are realizing now that they can make a killing by just having a drive thru.

I know people in the fast food business that are refusing to open their lobbies unless they can open at 100% and their numbers are just about where they were a year ago.....it took a while at the beginning of this thing but they eventually bounced back and are killing it

Just look at YUM!'s stock....

Yup. I know there is a list somewhere, but ones I haven’t seen talked about: I think Bonci Pizza closed for good and also noticed Bar Frances has a for lease sign up.

This hurts my heart. We just lost a NOLA legend that is ingrained in its culture and history. This pisses me off.

There's a Facebook page called Nola Restaurant Marketing. I don't know who runs it, but today the person posted that 80% of the restaurants will close between now and the end of August.
