The Italian Hero is one of those subs I love making myself for a tailgate or a super bowl party, but sometimes you want an Italian sub fresh cut and wrapped from the deli. Where’s the best place in New Orleans to get one of these:

So far I’ve had one at CIBO and Steins- where else?

That looks so freaking good.

Probably my favorite sandwich (well, and the Reuben), and one of the only things I miss about the Boston area. They make some great Italians up there.

It really is. I suppose it is the prevalence of the muffuletta that kept us from picking up on them down here. As much as I love a good muffuletta, it would really be nice to see more places take up doing these as well. Cochon Butcher does a decent one, I know, but it's not nearly as chock-a-block as that pic.

yeah I think it's called "The Godfather". Surprised more pizza joints don't also offer Italian subs. Brooklyn's in Gulfport has some bangers

The best place to get one is New York, I guess.

Really it's OK if everyplace on Earth isn't exactly the same.

They do and it is pretty good. The one at Liberty Cheesesteaks is okay, better than fast chains.

Liuzza’s has a Frenchulatta served warm.

I think it’s very good.

Not stacked with meat like the pic.

Best sandwich in town. Didn't they close? I would love to hear that they're open and thriving.

Don’t know. I haven’t been in awhile. I heard they were being sold.

I’ll check it out.

They are open.

Now I can’t wait to get a Frenchulatta with a frozen globe of draft beer!

Went for lunch today. Still good as ever. Same for the beer.

They are very short staffed so be patient when you’re there. Waitress worked her arse off.

It’s great. One if the more underrated places in the city. Have had about half their menu and everything has been delicious.

Bump for Francolini’s and Sanguiche at Zony Mash. Both putting out some good sandwiches. Just don’t look at the prices. My call was answered two years later.

Just checked and Liuzza's is still making their "Frenchuletta" sandwich at the Bienville location in Mid-City.

That is one of my favorite sandwiches from there and glad to see they are still making it.
