Could use that for a gym membership and a tub of protein powder to help cut down Louisiana’s obesity epidemic

Some of us aren't poor, so we can do both

Yes. My point is why spend $150 to drink poison

because some of us that dont drink very often like to drink really good tasting whisky when we do drink.

i normally drink one that is around $100 but i also once a year buy a bottle of whistling pig 15 year that i like to have a drink from couple times a year

doesn't affect my fitness, my lifting goals or anything else.

its possible to have a little balance. doesn't have to be 1 way or the other

unfortunately you are correct that in LA, I am in the minority and it swings to the drink 4-5 times a week crowd that is way overweight and enjoys nothing more than having a few(10-12) drinks at the "camp" every friday and saturday and frick anything that interferes with that.

Or just stop drinking altogether to cut down on LA's alcoholism...

I used to buy mid-high range shite one time, then refill with Costco booze later. We tend to do mixed drinks, but even when I’d do a neat pour, no one ever called it.

Imagine caring what others think of you so much that you pour cheap whiskey into expensive bottles. How can you do that and not feel like a douche

I probably spend the median Louisiana income a year on wine…way better than a gym membership

You can absolutely taste the difference between some crap whiskey and and smokey scotch that's been aged for a decade plus.

Buying $150 whiskey that tastes like $30 whiskey

If you can't tell a difference between Old Crow and Old Forester 1910, then I don't know what in the frick to tell ya. I enjoy sipping on a quality bourbon while watching my Hogs choke away games. Part of being a Hog fan is disappointment followed by multiple bourbon drinks.

The same argument could be made for anything. Why an expensive steakhouse or expensive car or expensive hotel ? Some people are prestige/ quality driven and other DNGASF. Both ways are fine imho, whatever floats your boat.

After trying dozens and dozens of bourbons I'm just sticking with Gentleman Jack. Readily available about anywhere in the $30s.

They use it to trade for other stuff later as well as it’s a hobby

8-10 years ago you could easily find Blantons on the shelf for right at $50. You can trade that now for an easy $150-200

Okay yeah i guess im not much of a collector.

Its like with records. I have records, but i open them and play the shite out of them. Im not looking to trade or sell them later.

If i buy a really nice bottle of something, i want to drink it.

Now that I just got my blood test labs back, I don't think I should be buying any alcohol. :(. So no 150 or 30 whiskey for me.

When I was first lurking this site I thought Chicken was much older and picked his handle from Thunderbird.

what's "expensive"?

Maybe $150 for a bottle of scotch for me is equivalent to $30 for someone else

For that matter, my $150 bottle may be "cheap" to someone like Elon Musk
