How many lbs of hamburger for 80 sloppy joes?

Cooking for an event. I’m assuming each one will be around 1/4lb of meat per sandwich but that’s just a guess.
There will be other food there so I don’t have to be precise, just trying to get close.

1/4 lb at most per sandwich, by the time you figure in sauce with the meat. I bet if you portioned it out each sandwich would get 2-3 ounces of meat.
Since there will be other food (and not everyone will eat sloppy joes) you could probably easily get by with at most 10 lbs and have leftovers

I'd probably do 20lbs, but I'm also the guy that overshoots pretty much every time I cook for a party

When the wife cooks sloppy Joe's for our family 4 she's uses 1 pound of ground meat and we normally all eat 2 sandwhiches on the small hamburger buns. You will have plenty leftovers with 20lbs.

The plan is to wrap each one individually in foil and store in a cooler so the bun gets nice and steamy. It’s for a bunch of kids so I imagine they will get wiped out quick.

Pre-made (portioned) and for kids... yeah, 1/4 pound per sandwich will definitely be enough.
