Superior Grill, Tio Jave, and Velvet Cactus are good enough for me when craving Tex-Mex in Baton Rouge.
I am hearing really good things about Blue Corn and will have to check it out soon.

I enjoy all of theses and will throw in La Carreta. But to What I think the OP point is there's no middle ground. I personally have no problem dropping $200-300 on a good meal. But I don't think it should cost me $100-150 for a decent meal at a Tex/Mex place for me and a date. But in Baton Rouge that what you gotta do.

Superior could fairly easily run that high on a date if margaritas are involved

It works because the people there LOVE it. I'll include a couple bossier places in this list bc what the hell.
Superior, Trejos, Nicky's, Pepito's, Chimi V's, Silver Star Cantina, Posados, El Chico, El Jimador, Tacomania, El Paso, El compadre, La Michocana, El Portillo, Cantina Loredo, El Cabo Verde, El Patio, Ki Mexico, Ramirez on Mansfield, Don Jaunz.... I COULD GO ON.
It's honestly almost unbelievable how many there are

If I go to Superior, its strictly for the atmosphere/margaritas. It's way too expensive for what it is, the La Carreta down the road is cheaper and the food is much better in my opinion. If you ever go to the one on government, you should get the potosinas enchiladas.

superior really isnt THAT much more expensive than say Caretta or Blue corn.

El Rancho has some pretty good TexMex, but it's 11 miles from my house. La Carreta is 1.5 miles from my house and satisfies the craving enough for me to forgo the longer drive elsewhere. If I'm going to drive a ways for a good meal, I'm probably not looking for TexMex anyway.
