Looking for a little mom and pop seafood place. Typical Cajun joint with good food.

Something reminiscent of the old Los's in henderson... Or even Pats 20 years ago.

Just a place to sit down, get a decent seafood platter (fried or grilled) and hang out for a while.

I suppose I have a bit of nostalgia today.

Probably doesn’t fit your criteria of “hole in the wall” but Mike Anderson’s has my favorite fried seafood in town.

George’s has really good thin cut cat fish on Friday’s.

Roberto's in St.Gabriel off River Road is pretty good. Its got that hole in the wall look on the outside but inside is pretty nice. Best crab cakes I've gotten in BR area.

Within 100 miles? That’s a good distance.

Towards the West, Mom & Pop place with good food and somewhere you’d want to hang out for a few drinks...you could do a lot worse than the following:

Fezzo’s
Bon Temps
Mandez’s
Cafe Josephine (though the fried seafood has a weird taste to it for some reason, but great oysters and gumbo)

And while I know it’s not mom and pop, for good food with a hangout atmosphere with good drinks and great bartender, you honestly can’t overlook Don’s Seafood Hut on Johnston.

Looking at a map, Spahr’s in Thibodaux is 68 miles away. Good for food and drinks to hang out.

Sounds like you want Griffin's...three locations, Houma, Thib, Raceland. Does a gas station restaurant count as a hole in the wall? Menu here, w/seafood platters available in two sizes, with and without oysters: LINK

Mike Anderson's has its issues, but you cant beat the simple elegance of sitting at the bar, taking down some of their fried seafood, then capping off your meal with a slice of lemonade pie.

In Mike Anderson fried or grilled seafood platter is delicious
Dukes or Dons in Denham has great seafood, love their fried oysters
Little Big Cup, Arnaudville has a Surf& Turf Buffet on Friday and Saturday nights. Fried shrimp are big and plentiful.
Not your Mama’s in Livonia
All are not exactly “hole in the wall” but worth the trip.

Maybe not quite enough hole for you but Morton's in Madisonville and several in Slidell (Kenney's, Southside, Pecks).

Never eaten there but Chicken on the Bayou in Henderson might be worth looking into.

Ditto the Yellow Bowl. Also, Trudy’s in Kramer LA is prob exactly what you’re talking about. Do a swamp tour while you’re back there

If the weather is nice, sitting outside at Riverfront in Abbeville is a good time.

Also in Abbeville, Dupuys is good stuff, but less of an atmosphere than outdoors at Riverfront.
