Jay left for a reason. Too much interference from corporate and unable to staff his kitchen.

Government Taco is closing at the end of the month. What the heck happened? Food was good even after JayD left. Anyone have any insight?

Praise god, they had the worst fricking commercials during off the bench in the mornings.

Not surprising. Barracuda is Shakespeare and Govt Taco is Dr. Seuss

You could tell once it was all Guaranty-controlled at the start of the year they tried to "mainstream" it and it wasn't as good. After that I noted that the parking lot never seemed to be busy like before.

And then Barracuda opened and did something similar cheaper and quicker and that's all, folks.

What are you people seeing about Barracuda that I’m not? Tacos are tasty and good but nothing that makes me rave over them.

Outdoor seating only is nice for half of the year, certainly a terrible idea for summer months. No parking. Canned drinks. No cash accepted. 2 tacos, rice, and beans (or 2 tacos and chips and salsa) will cost you $15 with no drink.

I thought the tacos were good but they certainly didn’t outweigh the other negative issues in my opinion.

I prefer Barracuda bc $15 can fill me up.

$15 at Govt Taco doesn't even get me a snack.

they have my favorite fish taco I've had. quesadillas are fire. love their steak tacos. queso has been hit or miss, sometimes its delicious and sometimes they stretch it out and it's noticeable

ive never had a bad meal there though

Gov't Taco was always going to struggle when they had to try to reopen the new location in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. Add the ensuing staffing issues and Jay focusing on other projects, and this is the result.

It's a shame because I thought the food was much better as of late with the new manager/chef and some of the new menu items were awesome (Nacho Fries ). But at this point, it's too hard to recapture customers without a rebrand of some kind.
