White Star was meant to be sort of a stepping stone for smaller up and coming businesses. Rotating in a new tenant keep people coming to try something new. When COVID happened they really didn't want to risk anything in the future and I understand. Restaurants are still sketchy everywhere that aren't fully established.

Looking back, it isn't a surprise Ducote backed out and handed the keys to his brother. He must've seen the writing on the wall. Greasing palms in BR can only get you so far.

I went to Gov't Taco once and got one that tasted absolutely awful. I have never had a taco where I could not at least finish it. I don't even remember the name of it, but either something was sour/bad or they just needed new recipes.

Gov't Taco was good back in White Star. But once they moved and were bought out by Guaranty, the quality went downhill.

It’s amazing that Jay could frick up a taco yet here we are. This has nothing to do with location or service. The tacos suck balls. There’s no reason a taco should have 40 ingredients on them.

If you like tacos with a side of roaches, that’s your place

Government Taco was just ok the couple of times I had it. Nothing special.

I guess I'll have the downvoted hot take on Barracuda. I've never been to the Baton Rouge location, but the Tchoupitoulas location in New Orleans is straight garbage. I've eaten there twice and I can't believe they are still open. Cold and flavorless tacos. Seriously, it is completely bland. I really don't understand the love this place gets.

Strange, a govt taco thread talking about how bad the food is and no one here banging the “jay is such a nice guy” drum. I know he’s not running it anymore but the same people always show up to tell people their opinion is wrong about the place.

Well, Jay is in fact a nice guy but he’s had nothing to do with Govt Taco in quite a while.

Will be interesting to see what concept takes over that space when Gov't Taco vacates.

No doubt there will be wings, burgers and fried mozz sticks on the menu.

should be a good opportunity for a good operator to partner with the brewery on something decent. They should have a good base of customers and with the pizza place closed not have to fight with them all the time

Govt Taco must be terrible if Barracuda is putting them out of business

I have been to Barracuda in Tchoup probably a dozen or more times, and not once did I experience a bland or cold flavorless taco.

They are awesome and have opened up always packed multiple locations for a reason.

Its possible you were just unlucky and had two bad experiences.

Good. It wasnt good any more. Rock paper taco much better. And now there is another taco place with better outdoor area right down government.
And that's saying something because RPT is not good

We were the only customers. Still took them 45 min to only bring out half the order. I sent back the fish taco because it was stone cold in the middle.

How does this happen?

We had a similar experience at a restaurant where we were the only table of customers. Waited forever, and every plate was stone cold. We asked them to bring us a microwave and an extension cord so we could take care of things ourself.
