Should be interesting to watch. I wonder how long it takes before he starts yelling at some Cajun baws

"Gordon Ramsay and nutria stew— they just don’t go together.

That changes Sunday when the celebrity chef (“Hell’s Kitchen,” “MasterChef,” “Hotel Hell”) trades his crisp white chef coat for a puffer vest and jeans and heads down South for “Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted” on Nat Geo.

The sharp-tongued celebrity chef known for “raising hell” in the kitchen ventures far beyond his usual cooking set cocoon for “Uncharted,” now in its second season. Going global, the award-winning Ramsay travels to Tasmania, South Africa, Indonesia, Louisiana, Norway and India this season, all in the name of culinary inspiration.

At the top of those showing the multi-Michelin-star-chef the Louisiana way: Eric Cook, executive chef and owner of New Orleans restaurant Gris-Gris."

He's liable to catch a paddle to the head.

I don't know why but this list cracked me up, that Louisiana is considered as "exotic" as these other places.

I know we have one of the world's most unique culinary styles but when you see it alongside those other places it just made me laugh.

The Tasmania episode is quite good, especially the whiskey maker and his fuel.

Well, Ramsay is from Great Britain ... they're not too well known for their food. (although I did have some pretty good things last time I went)

Louisiana cuisine is probably just as exotic as those other places to him.

FWIW. Talked to a guy who worked for GR and asked if he was an a-hole in real life. Guy laughed and said not at all. Said that it was completely a character he has created for TV and that he is a great guy to work for in real life.

Most online accounts of him say that too. From what I've heard, in his kitchens if you give a shite and try but suck he is nice, understanding, and trains you. But if you don't give a shite and suck you are gone and he might be an arse about it.

It's appropriate, for the rest of the world, and many of this country, to see Louisiana alongside these countries, IMO.

Take out Norway and the other cuisines are very very similar.

If he's smart, he will be both horrified at the terrible techniques and amazed at the final product.

Had a French expat watch me cook a simple turtle sauce picante one time and the entire time he looked like he was about to have an aneurysm

Tasted the final product only to say he couldn't understand how we had broken every single rule of cooking vegetables, added the same kind of onion in three stages in the cooking process, ruined the turtle by overcooking it in an acidic gravy, only to end up with one of the best things he's ever eaten.

It's that way with all poor people food though. The method does not matter if the result feeds the family.

GR seems like he’s a good sport and willing to try anything. Kudos to showing the prayer before the meal. Fun watch.

Just watching the replay. The show isn’t showing well with his adventures. It shows some of the diversity in Louisiana but haven’t hit any good holes yet.

There is already a good example of something like this from The F Word episode with James May.

First James May beats him in eating delicacies.

Then James May drinks and horrifies Gordon Ramsey with his cooking

Results between James and Gordon.

ETA: hell yeah, looks like he did.
