I don’t know the cities it operates in other than Atlanta and Savannah.
It’s not a restaurant anyone in Savannah recommends to anyone and the clientele will be at Joe’s Crab Shack the next night.
In Atlanta it’s not even in a steakhouse discussion.
I’ve never said it’s not good but it’s a steakhouse. And for it to be considered a top 5 place in a city is sad. Sad that there are not 5 better places.
There’s no chance I’m going there if I have several days in BR.
I’d say 8-9.

It has nothing to due with cheap booze from a fine dining standpoint in BR. You missed the point that people who are looking for fine dining options are not aspiring to be Greek pledges nor are the parents of Greek Pledges has any relevance to with the topic at hand.

On the contrary, when people dine out, price point for wine is only a formality and not an absolute.

In no particular order:

Eliza
Beausoleil Coastal
Elsie’s Plate and Pie
Umami
Chow Yum Phat

And I could keep going with:
Ava’s Street Cafe
Hannah Q
Zorba’s
Sushi Yama
Swagat

The people still clinging to the idea that Baton Rouge is mostly made up of fast food restaurants are morons.

Only people that go to Ruth’s in Savannah are tourists.

For the record, I’m not bashing the BR restaurant scene. More about Ruth’s being considered top 5.

But some of you just can’t get past your emotions to have a discussion.

Ruth's Chris
J Alexander's---French Dip, Carrot Cake & Chicken pasta soup
Chimes---Etouffee (very good but not consistent), cheese fries & chargrilled oysters
La Madeleine
Zea---Good stuff but not consistent

Honorable mention

Pocorello's
TJ Ribs (baby backs only)

BR has no, really good Chinese or BBQ

Haven't been to Mansur's in a good while and haven't been very impressed with Ruffino's & LA Lagniappe

First of all, the steaks at Ruth’s are awesome. Clearly, the fact that it’s part of a chain rubs you the wrong way, even though it’s the original and locally owned so this restaurant was not part of a chain when founded. Secondly, Savannah and ATL are tourist destinations, OF COURSE they’re going to have more restaurant options. This thread is not about comparing our top 5 to New Orleans or New York’s top 5 either. We get it, Atlanta and Savannah are better cities than BR. Who would’ve guessed? Water is also wet.
Chill, you’re coming off as quite the snob.

No love for Bay Leaf in this thread? Not fancy, but terrific food if your looking for something a little different. Service is not great, bit the food is.

And you know for a fact that only tourists in Savannah go to Ruth’s Chris? No locals eat there correct?

For the record your first post in this thread clearly did. You don’t live here, haven’t eaten at the posted restaurants so how the frick do you know what the scene in BR is anyway and why the frick are you even posting in a thread about it?

What does emotions have to do with it? You made unfounded, stupid comments and people have responded.

As I said previously, you don’t have a fricking clue.

Cool to see that Ninos is still good. That was one of my go to date spot in college, and it always seemed empty. May have been a different name/management at the time, but I always thought it was decent.
