Anyone stop for lunch there? We got a shrimp poboy on a tip and it was fantastic.

No, I don’t have any affiliation with them. Just a great option after you pass through that desolate craphole of Alexandria.

A good option instead of fast food.

Stopped by on recommendation from a friend. Pretty great gas station food. Liked everything I got.

Personally know the owners and they're great people who put a helluva lot of work into making that business a success. They make some fine plate lunches and I occasionally use their catering, which is also always solid.

It's French Market Express btw.

We rarely pass the Natchitoches exit without stopping. All of their fried foods and their desserts are delicious.

Don’t forget sweet potato muffin tops. One of my favorite road snacks

I live in Destin and hope to make it there sometime. Then again, why leave here?

Great stop but being from Shreveport its just too close when heading south to stop growing up, thats why its engrained in my head to stop at Billy's (aka the Cajun Buc-ee's)

Great place. Next time try the gingerbread men, they are incredible. Meat pies are solid as well.

We stopped around Christmas and all the cookies were so good we stopped again on the way out. The store had some cute Louisiana gift items also.

I always stop there back and forth to Texas and get:

-spicy meat pies
-Stuffed potato tots
-mini Yam cakes
-assortment of cookies

One of my favorite gas stations due to the quality of the food/bakery

Haven’t been that way in a couple of years, but love their meat pies.

As a freshman in college there in 99, we would smoke out on the loop and then hit up that place for some munchies. The food was always great and there were some characters that would go in there at night.

Here is the interesting history of it and an interview with the owner, written by a local food and culture blogger.

Damn I used to make this drive all the time when I lived in Dallas. Never knew about this place, but I’m stopping in next time I’m up that way.

Nice article. Makes you want to drive there and buy a yam cake.

Yelp has a lot of photos from the place. One was of boxes of the frozen Natchitoches brand meat pies sold in local grocery stores. Apparently, FQE sells those in their store. I suspect those are the ones they cook there. They're okay. I've found them to be a bit short on filling, but the pictures from the ones sold in the store look to be more filling, so maybe they aren't the frozen pre-made pies.
