The Philly Cheesesteak is dry and needs a condiment
All that bread even with moist succulent meat is just dry. Need some mayo or mustard on that bad boy

Jim’s on South has been my favorite
However, I can’t honestly tell that much difference

Agreed which is why at my house creamed horseradish sauce is added.

Jersey Mikes with the chipotle mayo is darn good. Beef needs mayo (and sometimes horseradish)

to be honest the 2 popular ones that are across the street from each other are both horrible. also the people working in them seem to go out of their way to be asshats.

Sonny's has been my favorite.

There's a reason most Po-boys are dressed with the tomato, pickle, and mayo definitely to balance the bread out.

All of the good ones now are using cooper sharp.
John's and Angelo's are the only 2 I would really recommend they are both damn good.
I think the roast pork is superior.

Just got back from Chicago and thought the same about the Italian Beef sandwich. Would have been much better with Mayo.

yes they are. Well, not horrible, but definitely not the best. Below average. I have had many a cheesesteak in philly and plenty of others i would go for.

anyone who thinks stuff like cheez whiz or velveeta belongs on food should not have an actual opinion on food

Shut your whore mouth! Cheez whiz is the only cheese that you put on a cheesesteak.

The Cheesesteak sandwich has existed longer than CheeWhiz.
The cheesesteak was developed in the early 20th century "by combining frizzled beef, onions, and cheese in a small loaf of bread," according to a 1987 exhibition catalog published by the Library Company of Philadelphia and the Historical Society of Pennsylvania.[4]
Cheez Whiz is a brand of processed cheese sauce and spread produced by Kraft Foods. It was developed by a team led by food scientist Edwin Traisman (1915–2007). It was first sold in 1952, and, with some changes in formulation, continues to be in production today.[1][2]
Both from Wikipedia with actual real citations not faked like AI.

With or without the hot giardineira? They have to be dipped just right or they are beef with bread.

Yeah, the gravy/jus saves the Italian beef from having the issue of the cheesesteak. They are both old Italian immigrant concoctions. Old Italian immigrants DESPISED mayonnaise on anything.
