Reading an article about "the law that changed everything" with Oregon beer. Apparently, the law to allow breweries to become brewpubs. Apparently, the bill was fastracked until the Senate majority leader tabled it - effectively killing the bill. BMC and the major distributors got wind of the bill and bought off the Senate leader.
Some lawmakers who disagreed with the decision to table the bill came back with some unrelated bills that had the language of the original brewpub bill secretly inserted. Those bills passed, and the rest is history...
