There is a Pappa Geno’s on Westheimer if you want an actual cheesesteak.

I’m within walking distance of Litlle Pappas...my wife and I will stick the kid in the stroller and do a Saturday lunch there often.
Brassiere 19 as well..their French dip is probably the best in town.

It appears you have a critic, but I'm riding with you bus. Pit Room isn't what it was - Truth is tops in town.
ps- let me know when you get out to Harlem Road

I find Feges tried to get too cute with its sides, other than those collard greens which are delicious.
I prefer Feges brisket, but Pit Room’s ribs. And that smoked/sautéed okra at PR is money.

Pinkerton's for the BBQ.
Villa Arcos for breakfast tacos
Pizarro or Vinny's for pizza
Blackbird Izakaya on Shepherd and 11th is fantastic
Nundini's Chef Table for Italian, have a gelateria and butcher in there too.

Another vote for Pit Room although I would definitely give Truth a try.
We enjoyed a meal at Pass & Provisions last time we were in Houston.
I'm also a sucker for sake social at Uchi whenever we're in Austin, Dallas, or Houston.
If you're in need of late night food check out Katz's Deli.

For Middle Eastern, I like Phoenecia Deli, at 12151
Westheimer. It's a little far out, but it's worth the trip. There's also a Phoenecia Market that's cool to check out, in the same shopping center that has cheese, dairy, meats and spices.

They also opened Finn Food Hall downtown which has some pretty good restaurants there.

Mint Thai and Rim Tanon are good places in the loop for Thai.
Mint's curry noodle soup (khao soi) is incredible.

Crisp Doner Cafe is frickin awesome.
I’m in Houston for a bit before I head back, and was craving some good kebab. I’ve eaten there 2 times now. It way out west but frickin authentic
Other good Turkish places are Empire, Nazif, and Pasha.
For Indian influenced Pizza, Bombay Pizza Co.
