Favorite spots to eat in Houston?

I seem to go to the same couple places every time I go eat. Whenever I think of trying something new I get on yelp and there is 12 pages of restaurants within a couple miles of me and it can be hard to comb through all that. So I thought maybe we could get a thread going that would lead to trying some new places. A couple of my favorites currently are La Lucha, Giacomos, Oporto and Cultivare.

Last time in Houston I was brought to Benjy's. It was one of the best places I've eaten in Houston.
Vic and Anthony's for steak.
Any Lupe Tortillas...get the fajitas.
Escalante's is also a good Tex-mex place.
Grimaldi's in The Woodlands has good pizza.

Recently gave Paulie's another shot after a couple years and was pleasantly surprised

Escalantes ain't that bad, offshore. El Tiempo and Ninfas isnt always available for us suburbanites.
And I've never heard anything about Yia Yia Mary's. You always put new places in my head, dammit. Now I'll have to try it.

I have never been myself. My SO brought back some of their pastitsio the other day and it was honestly the best I have ever had. It was your traditional Greek flavor but holy shite it was good.

And to your original question, it really depends on your family status and location. I eat kid friendly shite most of the time here in Pearland, but when it's just the wife and I, we're probably near the med center: Hugo's, El Tiempo, Pepper Twins (pearland) or Cooking Girl (med center), Killens (kids love that to), Brennans, Allendales (pearland), Grazia (pearland), Perry's. We had Ibiza around new years. It was above average, but not worth driving up to with the other things within the same distance.
And if you have kids, Little Matt's near the med center is just unbeatable. Excellent burgers and amazingly good bread/buns. Surprisingly good enchiladas. Free iPads and quarter games for the kids. And free beer and wine for mom and dad. It's a go to for us after any zoo visit, which we're members to.

Big fan of Xochi if you are downtown. Traditional Mexican, Oaxacan to be specific.

Their sandwiches are very disappointing but everything else I’ve enjoyed. Dinner there and wine next door is a very agreeable night for my wife so I go often.
Add Brasil, red lion (rip queen vic) , pit room, burger joint , el tiempo, rooster and Pepper Twins
I fricking love pepper twins

If you make it there, Mein for Chinese and Nightmarket next door for Thai are our current go-to’s for both.
