I think Spahr’s is better and the drives not bad.

Jacmel Inn in Hammond. It’s such a special place to dine in the winter with all the fireplaces lit.

It has a cozy warm atmosphere during the Winter months. I went to a rehearsal party there in February and another one in February a few years ago.

yes jacmel is a good call very cool place to eat especially if the weather is nice. I’m not a huge fan of the menu but it is good (and way better than it used to be)

We had a lot of passed appetizers that were good and there was also a buffet. I didn't eat much of that as I'd had plenty of the apps.

For some reason, I'm thinking we were told the chef there now is relatively new or are there new owners?

I've had meals there years ago when visiting family and I recall those to be very good, but that was a very long time ago.

yes the former manager bought it from the previous owner a few years ago. It’s much better than it was before.

Is Cheramie’s still open?

I’ll say I’ve always enjoyed Cuvée in Thibodaux. Great bar too.

Cristiano’s in Houma is probably the best restaurant in the Houma / Thibodaux area in regards to quality and consistency.

Milano isn’t worth your time.

Have been gone from the Northshore for over a decade (miss it every day) so my recs may be dated but here goes:

Nuvolari's in Mandeville
Palmettos in Slidell

More casual:
Southside in Slidell (Grilled YFT and onion rings FTW)
Rusty Pelican in Mandeville (not far from the lake)
Morton's in Madisonville (nice setting on the Tchefuncte River)
Kenny's Seafood in Slidell (if a po-boy will do)

As for drives, I-10 between Kenner and LaPlace is beautiful - should see some bald eagles this time of year.
US190 between Slidell and Mandeville is another nice drive.

Sal and Judy's could make a real argument for one of the best restaurants in the country in my opinion. It's real old school New Orleans food and it's still small enough that they don't prep in insane portions like Commanders palace.

It's in the middle of nowhere Lacombe but it's outstanding. I love Brigtsens and GW fins as well but Sal and Judy's is the best I've had.
