Not all cans of what is labeled Sardines or the real deal. They are just small fish labeled Sardines. Makes no difference to me just passing that along. Google it if you don't believe me. After a beer or two who cares!

I'm not sure what you mean by this. As I understand it a sardine is not really a particular type of fish, just any number of smaller fish which can be canned and eaten basically whole. There are certainly variations in quality, though.

I've yet to eat a canned sardine I didn't like, Single layer, double layer, cheap, expensive, they're all good in my book.

Go to Whole Foods and ask the fish orderer ( I just can’t say fish monger ) to order some fresh sardines for you, then grill them with some sea salt and lemon zest, garlic and olive oil about 3 minutes a side.

Good stuff.

Actually I have a grill outside. Who would have thought that?

This is good stuff over some rice. Sold in Asian markets, but you can order online too.

I used to eat them in my office, I didn't have to listen to any whining or complaining for a solid 3 hours. No one would come in there.

I stayed with some folks in England. The first day, the husband took me to the fishmonger, and he bought whole smoked kippers. Said they were a breakfast tradition we had to have.

He warmed them in the oven in the morning. They were good. (I also choked down a little Marmite on toast.)

His wife bitched about the smell. She said she won't usually let him have them, but he used me being there as an excuse.

I used to get them at AZ Foods in college. A little shot of mustard and a saltine and those were great.

I’ve gotta order some. Backbone, cold water, scales=super food. Great for you and delicious.
