Fall Beer: Brown Ales

I like different beers in different times of the year.
Spring- Pale Ales
Summer- IPA, Blondes and Lawnmower beer
Fall- Browns and Ambers
Winter- Porters and Stouts
Does anyone have any suggestions for a good brown? I enjoy Sweetwater Georgia Brown and Smuttynose Old Brown Dog.

if i'm drinking something brown it's usually liquor this time of year
i like black ipa's (so pro sinister minister, dr hoptagon) but browns tend to bore me

Give me Porters and Stouts anytime of the year. Browns and Ambers too. You can keep the rest except lawnmower beer. Nothing wrong with a nice Coors on a hot day.
Suggestions:
Easily found - Sam Smith Nut Brown Ale, Rouge Hazelnut, Goose Island
Others - Mississippi Fire Ant (Red Ale), Face Down Brown, Coco Loco Toasted Coconut Brown Ale. Not sure where you live and what's available but I found all of these at Calandros in BR.

Brown ales are really underrated, IMO. I enjoy their simplicity, particularly if I'm looking for a flavorful beer that's not hoppy, nor roasty.
I like Sierra Nevada's Tumbler, but I think it's only available in the Fall Variety Pack now. Moose Drool is a favorite, but of course not available here. Brooklyn Brown is really good as well, but I haven't seen it in quite a while. NOLA Brown is more of an English mild, but it's still a nice change of pace.

I somewhat follow this trend, with the exception of browns and ambers. They are boring styles and whenever I'm drinking one, I can only think about the fact that there was likely a much better beer that I'm not drinking instead.
Once it gets cold, I rotate between heavy IPAs, stouts, and bourbon.

As far as browns go, Bell's Best Brown is probably the best readily available one IMO.

Agreed. I just took a look at brown ale ratings, and Surly Coffee Bender was the 12th highest rated...I've had it before and was underwhelmed. They are usually missing body for me. Feel too thin.

Founders Sumatra Mountain Brown is probably the best brown I've ever had. It has the strength of a stout though.

I'm a huge fan of Brooklyn Brown Ale, especially on tap. Best beer I've ever had with a steak (Ruth's Chris usually has it on tap).

Great beer, probably closer to a 'Brown IPA' than a traditional brown ale, but great all the same.
If you're looking for something closer to style and available in GA. I'd recommend Avery's Ellie's Brown Ale.
