I will not eat raw white or yellow onions, I love them cooked. I will eat raw red or green onions though.

What are they, all 3 year olds????

I'd tell them what I have told countless people over the years----I cook what I want, the way I want. If you don't like it, head your arse to Burger King.

I love onion. A must have on any dish I cook.

If you want to break Indian cuisine, take the onion away.

Fresh chopped red onions in a green onions is a game changer. There is no better cooking smell than yellow onions and garlic sautéeing in butter on the stove

My sister won’t eat raw onions. Personally, I love raw and cooked onions. Raw in salads and sandwiches, cooked in every savory thing (almost).

So how’s that conversation go?

“Oh did you add onions to this during cooking? Cause I can’t eat it if so.”

Like, do they just ask every single person that made something if it has onions in it?

I’m not a fan of onions on a burger or onion rings but every time I cook I use a crap load of onions that’s where all the flavor comes from

Honestly, I try not to judge anyone based upon their personal preferences in any area of their lives. However, it does bother me when 40-year-olds eat like they're first-graders.

No vegetables except potatoes.
No aromatics in my cooking, please!
Cook my (fill-in-the-blank) well-done!

It doesn't make me angry, but I admit there is a bit of judgment.

Raw onion gives me heartburn, but I still eat it in things like pico or fresh salsa. I’ve been doing crockpot roasts and chicken breasts (separate pots), with a sliced onion and mushrooms as the base. Add a little corn starch to the broth that cooks out, and serve over rice or pasta- delicious.

Cooked onions of most any kind or any way are, in essence, one of the most essential foundations of flavor. I dig me some cooked onions, and use them in most dishes I cook, or at least some onion powder. Raw onions are an entirely different beast. I like them in plenty of things but they have a very distinct and strong flavor that I don't always enjoy. I can understand if someone doesn't like raw onions. I struggle to understand not liking cooked onions, especially cooked sweet/yellow.

I love all types of onions, both raw and cooked, but as I got older in years I started having issues with indigestion. At first I could get away with popping a few Tums, but after age 60 those stopped being effective. On the verge of suicide, this to me was as bad as waking up and finding out you developed a seafood allergy, my wife (no pics) introduced me to digestive enzymes. They saved the day, and my life! I'll continue to enjoy onions in everything!

I’m trying to even fathom what they must actually cook - assuming at least some people in this whole family must do so.

I eat them cooked in as like you said a lot of things have onions cooked down. I don’t eat them raw and I don’t want them to crunch ever.

Agree.

Trinity is onions, peppers, celery.

For Italian cuisine they don't use the term trinity, but it would be onion, tomato, zucchini.

It just so happens that I currently have yellow, red, white, and green onions all on hand as well as a couple of shallots.

Onions are in almost everything. It would be tough to find any soup or sauce without onions. There are onions in ketchup. Mirepoix, the trinity, sofrito...onions are a foundational ingredient in so many of the world’s cuisines. I’m sure there are Asian dishes without onion but I haven’t found them. If you think you’re not eating onions, you’re probably just not paying attention. They’re ubiquitous.
