It won’t be long until lots of them go down I think. Over saturation and over extending. Not all the people starting these places will have the business skills to keep up.

The dot beer crash.

A good little while, if you count Heiner Brau, their previous incarnation. A decade or more.

My sales rep for my distributor mentioned this as well. You either have to have a strong catalog of beers or one that really is a cornerstone these days

Or in Louisiana, you gotta make the hazy stuff or you'll die.

It’s like opening a restaurant because your friends tell you you are a good cook. As with any business it’s about the cash flow.

I did not care for their anonymous IPA. I support local beer but they were struggling.

I DC'd Covington a little over a year ago. Just wasn't moving. Hate to see local guys fail, but they just weren't very inventive or progressive.

It’s hard to be successful in the beer market, especially when your beer isn’t very good.

A couple up here are converting to microbreweries. They still make beer but just sell on premises. They have a liquor license and serve beers from other breweries, have food, etc. Gave up on retail packaged sales.

Martini
That’s what I’m getting at.
The equipment is expensive.
As the crappy neighborhoods they set up in improve, the rent goes up.
Salaries bump up.

It’s not only about the product.

It is tempting to say “wow, that (store, restaurant etc) was always busy” when they shut down.

Sales and profits are not the same.
